I have 4 budgies and want to get 2 zebra finches to add to the cage, will the finches be ok and do they eat the same seed as budgies Pic of Cage
You sure can! But they will die.... Budgies are vicious little bastards. Basically any "hook" beaked birds should be kept only with other hook beaked, cockatiels being an exception. My Mums budgie with its wings clipped managed to kill 2 diamond doves and 4 finches in a weekend while we were away, and that was in a large outdoor setup.
That pic only shows the top half of the cage and not having a backyard or veranda to keep it on I can't really have a bigger cage in my beedroom
Might have been just that budgie...I used to breed budgies and finches when I was a kid (in a bigger cage than shown mind you) and I never had a problem with murderous budgies.
i'm just wondering if the bred would end up with some kind of weird combination and would you call it a fudgie or a binche?
We had them together for years... also had some parrots in with... twas in a 1.5m^2 (though hexagonally shaped) about 2m tall mini aviary none died as a result of each other... butcherbirds on the other hand would basically get them worked up into such a frenzy theyd carc it (the bigger birds were alright but).
I was told if the cage wasn't large enough the budgies would snip the legs of the little zebs, so be careful in a cage that size
yep that was my experience . Was a very large 6m aviary and while none of them died a few finch did get their toes mangled . I would expect carnage in a small cage .
That cage looks awfully small for 4 budgies. I'd at least put some toys in there including a mirror, which keeps budgies entertained.
