Hi guys I have a seagate 5tb internal hdd Was working without any dramas until recently Can read all files on it But - can't write to it. I get I/O errors. Have done chkdsk - couldn't write to drive Seatools - no errors found Updated motherboard firmware (asus Z170) Running windows 10 All other HDDs are fine Any thoughts?
It could be the MBR of the drive that has become corrupted. What is the make and model of the HDD? (Use Speccy to grab this and further info below). - Try pulling the connections (SATA and Power) and then reconnect drive, - What temps is the HDD in Speccy? - What is the exact error you are getting (verbatim and or screenshot please)? Respond to above and we will flow from there. Later consideration is using UBCD tools to undertake more indepth analysis.
1/ check the hard drive in another machine 2/ have the store check the drive in front of you 3/ buy another hard drive. if you bought the drive from an OCAU sponsor - they'll probably swap it out on the spot no questions asked
