Can I get some recommendations on games that I can play for 30mins - 1 hour a few times a week and still enjoy. I don't have the time available to really get into the 'big' games and lack of time means I pretty much get slaughtered on any multiplayer game (although I haven't tried Fortnite haha). Any ideas? In the past I've enjoyed Far Cry, the Uncharted series, The End of Us, but these are all PS titles. Need something to play on the PC. Cheers!
I'm with you - being time poor is a pain - I know it is PS, but I just started God of War and it is absolutely fantastic
Hitman is good in bites. unsure if it will appeal but NMS is a great chill game for an hour here and there. Your love of cars should be exercised through Forza Horizon 3 or 4, and for something a little competitive Rocket League. And for something with a bit more story, the new Tomb Raider games are great. Short walking simulators may also appeal, so What remains of Edith Finch Firewatch Everybody's Gone to The Rapture These are worth a look Crossing Souls Oxenfree Dead Cells Celeste Owlboy Inside Last but not by any means least consider a whole new world and grab a Nintendo Switch, the games then fit into your schedule whenever or wherever you are.
Far Cry 3, 4 and 5 I found had decent story progression that I could pick up and put down easy enough. BioShock Infinite Deus Ex series Metal Gear series
i disagree about Witcher in small batches it needs time and dedication. Stuff like Tomb Raider games are good. As is Wolfenstein 1 & 2. AC: Odyssey is one of the best AC games there is, very under rated.
Sleeping dogs. Mad max. Mafia 2 (can’t comment on 3, haven’t played it yet) Brutal legend. Ryse: son of Rome.
LOL no. Deus Ex maybe but it's a time commitment game. Metal Gear, shit there are cutscenes in MGS4 that are longer than 30 mins in themselves and you're limited to what's on PC with MGS5 really. Alan Wake immediatley comes to mind. Nice little episodes with recaps. Life is Strange is similar. Anything from the Telltale series of games? Diablo series can be smashed in short bursts, especially rift runs in 3. Borderlands series. I can't think of anything else super specific but if you want to avoid story related stuff (I know that's what you asked though) something in the vein of arcade games would work well or fighting games. Something you can smash for a short burst and step away with your takeaway being your small increase in skill.
The Max Payne series would be good, it has quick save so you can stop whenever. Borderlands series, the missions can usually be chunked into ~15min sections between save points.
I do a few runs on Diablo 3 when I can. When I have more time I fire an RPG style game like Divinity Original Sin 2 where I can walk away anytime without notice.
I'm in the same boat as you. I can only play for small blocks at a time and can't deal with games where one mistake takes you back to the start of a campaign (like GTA etc) Games I've found that fit this bill and Loved are: Tomb Raider 2013 - the newer ones are much the same, so you could even jump straight into a sequel, I personal liked the first one the best Alien: Isolation - one of my favourite newer games to play so far Also, I've found since becoming time poor, I play my PlayStation a lot more. The sleep function means I can pickup where I left off without waiting for load times, updates etc. Very efficient.
Thanks everyone. Giving No Man's Sky a go for the moment - mainly as I'm reading a lot of space sci fi. But will definitely take a look at the other suggestions.
I'm playing Hob at the moment. Unsure of what story you're after but it's got a story and you can play for a while then switch it off (regular automatic save points).
Telltale Game series (Walking Dead S1/2/3, Wolf Among Us, Batman) could fit the bill. They're story based episodic games.
