I am changing from an AOpen AX63 Pro to an ASUS P3V4X

now the only difference between these motherboards, chipset wise is that the one on the asus is an apollo pro a, while the aopen borad it is an apollo pro

does anyone think, or know of any issues that would or may occur when i put my hdd on the new board?

i dont really wanna have to re-install windows...

but the mobos both use the same via drivers, so windows wont get upset there

got any ideas? maybe w/ the 4x agp b/c aopen is only 2x?

i think it should be ok! i doubt you'll have too many problems ;)....except for-

hehe...umm.. dont be so sure! :) the P3V4X is known for having problems with AGP 4X... and looks like you have a "Creative GeForce DDR".. im pretty sure DDR Geforces arent stable in AGP 4X on this mobo... but 4X doesnt give that much of an improvement over 2X anyway..

oh...one more thing... make sure you have some decent ram... none of that no-name crap... this board doesnt like no-name brand ram :)

You're better off sticking with your current AOpen board, since it won't be much difference, and you're just begging for trouble if you switch to Asus.

Use the $$ you would have otherwise spent on more RAM or something to improve the performance.

    yeah

but i want a board that has fan control, so i t can keep it quiet @ night

it seems that heaps of ppl complain about stability issues w/ this board too

but some say once it is good it is rock solid

    still undecided

i am selling my old aopen for $20 less so only $20 out of my pocket

I ran an ASUS V6800DDR origonal geforce on the P3V4X overclocked & at AGP4X w/o any problems. The two GF2 I tried would not run @ AGP4X no matter what.
