    Introduction

Started to get itchy fingers to do another mini ITX build...
the Dan A4-SFX is currently on special here - Buy DAN Cases A4-SFX V4.1 ITX Case Silver [A4SFXV4-S] | PC Case Gear Australia
the match AIO 92mm is here - Asetek 645LT 92mm AIO CPU Cooler AMD AM4 Kit | PC Case Gear
else the new DAN A4-H20 here - Search results for: 'dan h20' | BPC Technology
+ need another 240 AIO.. easily another $100-$150+
else a nice SFX powersupply is going to be another $150-$250..

Easily $500+ for the case, powersupply and CPU cooler..

I vaguely remember buying a Sugo 16 when it was on special, plus a spare CV650, maestorm 120 AIO.
After reading all many reviews on the web about the Sugo 16 , there was mention of possiblitiy of a tower cooler fitting, with the fan on the opposite side.. I absolutely hate, AIOs... I have had 3-4 fail already.. so the idea of going air with a cheap HSF was appealing.. I have a few ID SE-224-XT.. (previous ozbargain specials) which could have the fan reverse on the opposite of the heatsink.

So I took up, my challenge of satisfying my, itchy fingers, with bits lying around to make a cheap ITX build..

SIlverstone Sugo 16 black - currently $75 (paid $90 for mine from an ebay special)
Buy SilverStone SUGO 16 Black Mini ITX Cube Case, Perforated Panels | Cases | Scorptec Computers
    ID cooling SE224-XT - Currently $35 - paid $26 (1) ID-COOLING Sweden Series SE-224-XT CPU Cooler $26 + Postage (Free Click & Collect) @ PLE Computers - OzBargain
    Corsiar CV650 - Currently $85 - paid $59 - (1) [Back Order] Corsair CV650 650W Non-Modular 80+ Bronze Power Supply Unit Currently $85$59 Delivered @ Amazon AU - OzBargain
= $175... a far cry from the $500 I would need to spend.. for the DAN A4 / H20 build..

Found a spare artic PWM 120 fan lying around and noctua 80mm redux... (92mm fan would have been a better fit)
    Plus a MSI B460I gaming wifi, 10400F, 16gb of crucial ballistix 3200, Kingston A2000 500gb NVME ssd..

    1) Place motherboard into case...
    2) Put ATX power supply in.
    3) Check for HSF clearance...
    4) Holey COW.. I think the tower HSF with fit with the ATX power supply.. if I bend the cables a bit.. Lucklily the powersupply ISN'T modular... there's zero chance of a modular power supply would fit
    5) Gently attached all the headers, (Power, HD light, Power light, reset, audio USB3, PSU cables and CPU power cables, and all the fans required.. NVME SSD etch
    6) Some managed to push everything in together.. and clsoe the case up.
    7) Damn no video... take everything out and try again.. VGA error light...
    8) Check the CPU box.. damn,.. I used a 10400F, not a 10400,
    9) Pop a video card in (cheapy GT1030 from the forums)... .. now get to bios.
    10) HD light working, Power light not working..
    11) dismantle again.. and spend 15minutes tyring to get the power LED cable in properly..
    12) Bingo... everything works now
    13) Dropped in a Galax 3060ti.. no issues.. plenty of room.. max GPU length274mm according to the Siliverstone manual.... look like no RTX3080 for me in this case unless the Inno3d twin OC - 275mm might fit..
    14) Satisfied this is probably one of the first ATX PSU and Tower cooler builds in this case.. all on the cheaper side..

the cooler going to fit with the atx psu?

    silverstone notes that
    Limitation of CPU cooler
    Air cooler: 85mm ~ 172mm*
    * When installing a high tower air cooler, an SFX PSU must be installed as there will be interference when using an ATX PSU. Please refer to manual for more details.

possibility it may fit if no front fan and the socket is setback closer to the rear IO but seems a bit risky. the manual seems to have a good pic of the limitation so if you havent checked it already...

that board I used is this..

It fits, with a rear fan and a ATX PSU (non modular)...just..

MSI MPG B460I GAMING EDGE WIFI Mini-ITX Gaming Motherboard (10th Gen Intel Core, LGA 1200 Socket, SLI/CF, Dual M.2 Slots, 2.5G LAN, Wi-Fi 6, DP/HDMI)

    See above..

    Proof it fits.. just...

Thermals are good... CPU 70 degree prime 95 load.
GPU around 75 degrees under 3dmark Time Spy.

Wow.. I think I got really luck, squeezing in a ATX power supply..
the one I used happens to be 125mm in length, rather than the standard 140mm length..

Buy Corsair CV650 650W Power Supply | Power Supplies | Scorptec Computers

Hmmm... I was gong to try to do some cable management... and reverse thefront intake fan to exhaust... .
Looking inside the case now.. there absolutely no way of getting the GPU out, (need to undo the PCI-express latch)... without taking out the PSU..
No chance of taking the PSU out without taking out the HSF.
No change of taking out the HSF, wihout removing the fans off the HSF, to get at the mounting screws...
.. If I remove the hsf.. I will need to clean and repaste again.., which was really really tricky inside the case.. the first time I did it..

I think, I am going to leave it alone...

    Good points.
    - Setup the MSI bios fan software.. the machine is near silent at idle
    - Temps are fine at load for GPU and CPU..
    - Cheap compared to most other IX cases and builds..
    - Small.. footprint similar to the SG13... just a little taller... and similar to this Buy Raijintek Metis Mini ITX Case Gold [0R200010] | PC Case Gear Australia but with much better thermals.

    Bad Points
    - any upgrade will be tricky
    - max video length 275mm... pretty much limited to 3070.. or the Dell OEM / Asus Blower / gigabyte blowers in 3080s..

    Possible upgrades in the future.
    - Dell 3080 oem card - 50mm thick and 267mm long.. should fit
    - upgrade frontal 80mm fan to a 92mm fan.
    - Try a 140mm HSF... Maixum coolerhieght is meant to be 172mm... (at present the thermals. are pretty good) .. but if I go a 8 core cpu.. or a Ryzen 12 / 16 cores... the larger HSF will be necessary.

    For those interested...

Grabbed a Dell 3080 oem from a fellow Ocauer..
Works fine... but pretty much sounds like a jet engine!!!!

Solid review points I'm using the same case in my mini home server. Just wanted to point out that with a SFX modular PSU I still had to run the fan on the rear side (heatsink is a simple 120mm tower Gammaxx something..) and even then the ends of the modular cables still rest on the heatsink.

Consider flipping the PSU over so it can help exhaust hot air

Alternatively the CV PSUs I think are short enough to actually mount at the front of the case, although I don't have a graphics card in mine. It's jankily mounted by the fan grill screws and a zip tie. works though
