ME TOO!!! oh wait that was a dream... lol
Cheers, shame the price has dropped a lot.
I stopped at 235 plots about 3-4 weeks ago and have only been farming as I ran out of spare disks lying around, going by the file date on the 1st plot I've been farming since the 3rd of May.
The GUI thing has been saying Estimated Time to Win = 9 months for a while now.
I'm still holding in there. Cmon coins!
Well there’s hope still. I’m getting ahead of network growth, down to 4 months now and close to 3.
There was another guy who won 2 Chia in quick succession with <300 plots.
Im at 1220 something plots. Shrugs.
I think my plotters were drawing 1000watts and the farmer 460watts. So only running the farmer now at $1.91 a day in power.
So I guess I have sunk about $60-100 in power total. To win 2 coins worth $100-200.
Thats why network growth rate has slowed considerably
I'm at "time to win" parity - that said I am not trying very hard knowing I will be replotting come pools later on.
Question for you Snoops, can you advise if you have any plots that take more than 5 seconds for lookup? I keep getting a handful that do but cannot understand the mechanics behind it all and seems more random than anything else. (I am plotting/harvesting on same machine.)
I used to have issues with the lookup taking longer than 5 seconds but generally only when new plots are being moved over to the storage drives. I am kinda tinkering atm, but my current setup looks like this
[plotter] -> [ssd-cache] -> [python script that limits bw to about 80MB/sec] -> [plot drives]
Once those are full I am moving them to a RPI4 that mounts them read only and pulls a random few blocks every couple of minutes to stop any possible spin downs (usb drives so no real control over it).
Since doing that the only time a see greater than 500msec reads is when chia harvester first fires up and reads in all the plots.
You have advanced power settings and turned hdd idle to never?
Yeah. I haven't run plot check yet tho. That will tell all.
Had a customer at work approach us this morning with their NVMEs having intermittent issues and one of them refusing to be added back into the array they setup themselves, looks like they're going to have data loss - checked out the SMART because it's likely going to be treated as Hardware SLA Replacement
Those writes though, maybe they're doing Chia lol
Doesn't look like it's used for Chia. Chia temp drive have similar read and write stats
40 power cycles.
Chia has just released their Pools software to Pool operators to test on their testnet.
If all goes well we can expect official Pools to start as early as next week.
I have purchased a Chia coin in anticipation of growth in price. Fingers crossed.
A few of the pools are up and running and you can plot to them, but most are warning that it is very likely there will be a ‘final’ release in about a week. Madmax plotter has also released a mod to allow you to make pool plots.
Network is going to explode shortly :/ it will be interesting to see how much network space is deleted to make pool plots and how much is apart of massive farms that just keep farming…
It will be interesting. Basically if you have two PCs you can still self farm on one, take a drive off and put on your new plotting to pools PC replotting away. However I think a lot of people wouldn't be fussed. I think we will see a few Exabyte drop away.
I get a few ssds worn out and i know these customers are not doing chia as i have remote access to the computers. Its surprising how many writes some businesses use.
