No, you don't need lots of ram - it helps but the main speed increase is how your cpu gets better utilised with the ram and we don't need so much space available on the plotting disks.

Netspace didn't go down when the release came out.

EDIT: Netspace actually is fluctuating quite a bit.

Am I understanding the release notes right? I can just start plotting new portable plots now and then add them to a pool later? Then slowly replace the old plots I guess.

I suppose I can add that to the list behind migrating from Windows over to Ubuntu/dedicated system and figuring out the madmax plotter as well.

I wouldn't imagine the network space to 'go down' , as there'd still be that capacity, or more, in the network - it'd just be delegated to pools rather than individual users, the capacity would only increase

from what i read as i was about to start replacing the plots, you still technically need to add a pool for one plot. for you to start making nft plots that are "portable"

ill be joining the flexpool chia pool when it comes out, there still working on it. when they have that sorted ill just replace my plots then. i mean im not really gonna win shit all right now anyway.

Any interest in an official OCAU pool? Haven't read into it too much yet, would it be worthwhile starting one at our relatively small size?

edit: oh wait, I thought I could just click "make a pool" and get an address or something for people to join. it might be a bit more complex than that. :)

I think you need to have tiny bit of Chia as well. I can’t remember.

All you hardcore Chia farmers who went to the trouble of write protecting your drives, please remember to un-protect before replotting for your pool!

(write protecting is a good way to protect your plots and there might be some performance benefits too)

Plotting quicker in 1.2.0 it seems, my first one only took just over 5 hours. I think it was 7-8 hours when I was plotting back at the start.

    1 NFT Plot, 0XCH

Woohoo! I am going to wait for a while. Gonna wait for the latest iteration of the PSChiaPlotter - he had just recently updated it with Madmax plotting as well as the Pool key but this was before the mainnet release so just want to see if he is going to make changes.

I don't have any blank drives either so will have to replot. (His latest change had replotting built in as well)

I would definitely join an OCAU pool. I know others here mooted it before too. There is no rush as the plots are fully transferable (once you have plotted to a pool using new version)

Pools are definitely a lot of work. You need developers specific to blockchain although from what I understand it is t terribly difficult, then obviously some people good with websites and what not plus a few other things. Unless you are super passionate about it, want to put some cash into it, and really want to make it happen it’s a big task.

Sounds like Burstcoin where you needed the help of faucets to get started

Let the fun begin.. Creating "self pooling" plots until Flex is up and running.. Have about 1700 plots to "upgrade" so will take quite a few days..

Wasn't sure which Pool to move to out of the list, joined the Australian one for now coming in at #24 - doesn't seem to really be the "list of 3-4 most common" like for Ethereum mining so I have no idea

    https://miningpoolstats.stream/chia

    https://maxiopool.io/

They don't appear to have any farming fees either compared to iMineBlock's clip I watched this morning

Hoping once I have my replacement daily ram kit installed, it should be about less than a fortnight to fully transition 900+ plots provided I'm awake to swap disks out

What does everybody think though? As I believe you'd have to entirely replot to swap pools I'm pretty sure

Cool, Just joined the au maxiopool, may as well rather than self pool for now. 5 NFT plots since starting yesterday evening. Might erase some if my early plots and ramp up again over the weekend.

Similar to GPU Mining, everybody joins a pool and has a single 'global' capacity, if a block is found and farmed the reward gets divided amongst all the users - so instead of all of your plots trying to find a block on solo mining, you can get 'partial' solutions to the equations and get rewarded, or get rewarded if another member of the pool gets a block

Trickles of Chia, small portions, cents / couple dollars a day, frequently
