Why would you clean out a new PS2??

also, you probably dissconnected your disk drive from the motherboard... they are a bitch to get back on too.

Or you could of fried the bored from shocking it?

Does the regular Playstation screen come up, but not the PS2 symbol when you have a game in?

that sound like you dissconnected your motherboard.

Try taking it apart again, all the way, and put everything back togerther.

done, no luck, started from the ground up 3 times, i noticed the reset/on off cable to be ever so slightly scruffy, could this cause the booting issue?

The scruffy cable shouldnt be a problem, providing it's not split...

Check all of the ribbons cables anyway. Look to see if any of the contact strips have been bent/pushed back to the point where they wouldn't make contact in the plug.

I've had trouble with them before, although nothing to do with the problem you're seeing. Just an idea anyway!

I'd start googling a PS2 repairer if I was you.

After going through 3 mod-chips I totally destoryed the laser on mine, not much you can do about these things. Just get it repaired.
