It looks like it might be... lol
    Classes, perks, modern combat...

[AOB]TommO, true it looks like Crysis will be a clear winner but at least I can run this game quite fine on my outdated s939 rig with 7600GT.

I'd say no for the fact that there are no vehicles in COD4. From playing the beta I'd say Crysis is the closest thing to BF2.

    yup.
stores have stock today, goes on sale to the public wednesday...

i'm surprised that there isn't a bigger OCAU interest in this game...
the single player demo was good ol' COD action but with a much needed modern twist, and the multiplayer action (at least on the xbox360) seems to be a damn good MP game.
i'm guessing that releasing the week before Crysis (in a month with tooo many good games being released) may slow up sales a tad.

anyways.. i got my PC version being posted out to me, and will be picking up my xbox360 on wednesday.

it might not have the large scale vehicular combat that BF2 does so well (i'll be looking to Frontlines : Fuel Of War for that fix), but it does have all those goodly upgrades and unlocks and ranks that gave BF2 it's addictive quality. :D

And if multiplayer is anything like COD2 it'll be simply insane. :)

Its unrealistic, as I've often found with many games.

I mean come on, a prone, "elite" soldier being unable to handle his weapon firing in bursts 1 second apart, with teeny-tiny ball firing rounds? I find that hard to believe.

AK47, yes, inaccurate in bursts as hell, everyone knows they're a honkin' big gun. But the american weapons are smaller...

It's probably more realistic than you think, have you ever fired the gun in question in real life? Game designers would probably have tested the real weapons at some point for realism, you can count on that.

    Oh come on.

Take EA for example, you honestly think they'd do that...?

Do you honestly believe that a soldier, on the front lines, would EVER be equipped with a weapon that he could not fire accurately in bursts? 1 shot often doesn't "put down" a person.

If you want realism download Project Reality for BF2. Bout as close as you're going to get. While i'm sure game makers would like to make a game as close to real life as possible, there isn't much market for it as kids just want to run and gun.

Been watching too many movies, champ.
