Yep, I know that CPUs are practically bulletproof. Was quite confident with it - however given the Kernel mode errors and Interrupt issues it was a case of either the motherboard not carrying the voltage properly or the PSU not delivering it properly.... ultimately hard to diagnose when there's no spare parts available other than purchasing it.

Thinking also that the behaviours it exhibited seem consistent to it narrowing down to a PSU being now my culprit.

Not that I'm too overly concerned that I have ended up purchasing an upgrade. I'm looking at an eVGA G3 PSU to do the replacement. Should be good enough.

A shop owner told me yesterday that he doesn't think stock levels will catch up until February .... That's just a spiteful way to hurt AMD isn't it .....

Then all of a sudden ....

Intel's like " Battlestations ...ready the torpedo tubes " :Pirate:
They were ready ... fully. Now it's the resellers dumping stock & we save

Why should it be anything other than what it is?

RRP is a fair bit more than 7700k (which I think took a long time to settle at the $450 mark) so 8700K would have to be $500 minimum even after settling.

    :)

$490 old retail 7700K vs asking price 8700K $100 more looks mighty fine.
Axing the prices abit due to some competition ...

Exactly, the MSRP is about $30 USD higher, so if you scale that to Aussie prices the difference will be about $50 more than 7700K prices, so $500+ sounds about right.

Agreed, the 1800X at its current price point is kind of irrelevant to 99% of users, it's like a somewhat affordable "Extreme Edition" of Ryzen, but why anyone would pay $200 more for a 1800X over a 1700 is beyond me, unless you don't intend to overclock and want the faster XFR, but even then the 1700X is much better value and is 95% as fast for 80% the price.

MSI lineup is hard to decipher - from Krait all the way to gaming pro, theres hardly any differences bar aesthetics

all have 10 phase, same number of usb, pcie, cpu connectors, ram speed, m.2, sata and sound chip
