Nearly 5 years late to the party, but I just had the honours of shutting down our last (non-essential) WinXP PC.

I thought about shedding a tear, but nothing came out.

Unfortunately, we still have XP boxes for business-critical legacy software/hardware. Can't wait until some of that gets retired later in the year.

Looks about right - just checked a blank sysprep'd template on the VM cluster with 2012R2 is 12.5GB (patched in the past couple of months, and with a few bits and pieces installed). The 2008R2 template is around 20GB.

    Did they really lose?

They get to shift the blame to AWS, they're not big enough for AWS to say "Yeah Nah, It's your own fault for being shit" in response to it, so their customers (who, as mentioned, are used to MYOB being shit), get to merrily go about saying MYOB are fine, AWS are shit.

unlikely, i'm sure the were within their SLA's - and they get to keep the cost savings.

    Procurement.

"We want to do the design and requirements, but we want you to quote fixed price to build it. Yes, according to our future design. Yes, it doesn't exist yet, but surely you can give us a fixed price on it."

So MYOB stands for "Mind Your Own Business" or similar. If they're offering cloud services, aren't they minding it for you? Acronym change required.

I guess you don't give a shit how few customers were affected if you were one of the 211.

If your budget is infinite you are always under budget.

    Not I.

When the budget is $0, everything is IT's fault.

I'm not sure what our budget is, but we are apparently always over it, even on July 1.
