I am and I can't wait for the pilot to roll out at the end of the year and hear all the bitching and moaning about big brother/nanny state.

They would have to speed run records because both games have been clocked for scores. ;)

I was more looking for living on several hundred acres, on my own self sufficient property, with a few tens of KW's of solar panels, some battery storage, a few wind turbines, in a house that has 5 bedrooms, and the two level garage that has enough car spots for our cars and the upper level is the games/drinks area, and has another 4-6 bedrooms with 2 baths for friends and relatives, and downstairs has the home theatre room for 10-12 people, and off the back of that is the 4x5 metre covered back porch with bbq/pizza over and a pool and 10 person spa. I'd also have my own rifle range and a nice selection of rifles, grow pigs for my own anaerobic digestor to provide gas for cooking/heating and BACON and once its legal, my own marijuana growing company onsite to grow to only sell to wholesalers... and be with my wife and sister wife in a polyamorous lifestyle. Oh and i'd have FTTP to our property.

I'd then live my life without too much contact with the outside world.

    Too Much?

Medical and emergency is a hard one to be self-sufficient for. Certainly as we all get older and more prone to this kind of semi-rural fantasy.

if you want all that then why stop at FTTP? i'd go for fiber over retrocausality instead of that crappy fiber to the premesis

Not to mention all the first world comforts that bcann reeled off. Or are you exclusively bbqing roo carcasses you've shot yourself (with the bullets you presumably made yourself with the ore you smelted yourself etc.)

Unless you've got endless money, the fantasy needs to be more sustainable.

Incidentally, I was out rural last weekend, in such an environment. We were talking about a huge "lifestyle mansion" at the end of the dirt road. With mini-farm etc. Kind of like what we're talking about.

It was mentioned how vet costs for the animals would be quite large, because of the relative seclusion. It turns out, the couple are vets.

Don't want to be morbid, but what vet costs? They get sick enough, you shoot them.

If you had a mini-farm i guess regular check up for the animals would be required as well as any preventive medicines that need to be given, could add up quite quickly

The degree to which you care for animals under your responsibility is a personal choice.

Ahh true, they would need vaccines and stuff like that. But I think you would get pretty good at knowing what things were needed and what had to be given at what time etc

Nope, you nailed it. Any chance you want to start a commune?

Emergency, sure. Long term medical - if I can't walk, feed myself, or wipe my own arse, then put a bullet in me and feed me to the pigs.
