Yeah so the article says it's a vm, um ok how exciting.
If it breaks vmware workstation that will be annoying or force me to learn and convert to hyper v for my desktop virtualization needs.

As much as I want to agree, I think you're overestimating their competition.

There's a red hat guy (as in literally works for red hat) in our building who walks around literally with a red fedora and a shit-eating seppo TV star grin.

I've known and worked with a few over the years, there always seems to be one that's drunk far too much of the corporate koolaid. Most of 'em are good though.

and they seem to have a great hiring policy for the sales ladies.

Looks like their marketing budget certainly changed.

Reminds me of some of the parody ads on The IT Crowd.

I get that retro is cool and unix hasn't changed since 1980... but this is woeful.

I'd like you to show me literally *any* operating system or software ad that isn't total shite. Either it panders to mouth breather "average user" types, or is cringey AF nerd stuff.

And speaking as someone who works in and around advertising, finding good ads in any industry is quite literally a one-in-a-hundred-thousand thing.

My comment was that they got more marketing budget. Not that they spent it wisely. In fact, in my experience, typically the more money spent on an ad, the worse it ends up. Either it's over-produced, gets destroyed by a single (typically unqualified) ego, or suffers from "too many cooks".

"Pop songs reworded for nerd jargon" should be punishable by death.

With a net worth of $16 million, I'd be happy to sing stupid songs too.
