    Or trans-political. That common slide to the right as people get older and start to prop up their declining years with an increasingly-desperate conservative standpoint.

    But we are all living in a computer simulation, therefore we are all binary eventually.

    I suppose earlier generations had to sit through all this huffing and puffing with the invention of television, the phone, cinema, radio, the car, the bicycle, printing, the wheel and so on, but you would think we would learn the way these things work, which is this:

    1) everything that’s already in the world when you’re born is just normal;

    2) anything that gets invented between then and before you turn thirty is incredibly exciting and creative and with any luck you can make a career out of it;

    3) anything that gets invented after you’re thirty is against the natural order of things and the beginning of the end of civilisation as we know it until it’s been around for about ten years when it gradually turns out to be alright really.

    Apply this list to movies, rock music, word processors and mobile phones to work out how old you are.

    There's not a conversation I engage in any more where I'm not told that I'm "cynical" or "depressing". When I point out that it's factual, accurate and based on verifiable evidence, the general response from there is "but nobody wants to hear that - people want to hear happy things".

    So, like you, my alternative is to not give a fuck and disengage, rather than the socially acceptable (nigh demanded) alternative of delusional Hollywood-style happily ever after fantasy.

    Something something watercooler sportsball bread and circuses something.

    I figure there has to be a class of us, probably a good number of people in this thread, where new inventions at any age remain in the cool/exciting/creative category. The day that isn't true take me out and shoot me.

    I think i'll just stick to finding the sister wife me and the misses are after, we had an interesting candidate in the form of a little submissive woman who is an energizer bunny that we met and played with on sunday :)

    That was sure uplifting compared to work.

    Need to work in a field that is cutting edge/progressive.

    Any day I don't learn something new, I feel I've wasted it.

    Today, I learned that despite coming along in leaps and bounds, managing chrome in an enterprise setting, still sucks balls.

    If there is a tweakable in chrome://blah, It should be tweakable org wide, via group policy.

    I reckon if you can't find something new/interesting related to IT each day you're not looking closely enough.*

    And that's fine, but it's definitely out there :)

    *IT is pretty broad, I don't mean sitting in a chair being a sysadmin and nothing else :p
