I'm starting to wonder if you're in an even worse mood on the daily at this new job, or whether you're just enjoying more free time to shit post...

I'm just lovin' the redaction of the barcodes. That'll work, right?

    I noticed that too.
How do bar codes even work anyway?
Something to do with magnets I think.

I'm working from home - which is not abnormal for me. However I've had too many coffees from my coffee machine and I'm now all fuzzy in the head.

Sadly even in lockdown I don't get a rest :(

Company is telling everyone to work form home - unless it's revenue making, which means sales and services (me) get to keep trudging the front lines.

Customers however are prepping to tell everyone to wfh, so I have a dozen tokens to deal with for remote access now.

Having a great laugh today. I've managed to find a few ways in and out of the place that give me complete remote access while everyone else faffs about arguing over "the one true way" to tell bulk staff to log in.

Now, "the one true way" is not what's best / fastest / easiest for the staff. No no, of course not. "The one true way" is purely down to minimising the effort of the staff in needing to support the users (which is genuinely bullshit, because the users can already get remote shells and things to Linux modes all over the place, and do it every day).

So anyways, I've ducked into a few offices around the place, given clever people their remote access cheat sheet, and bypassed all the nay sayers. Happy days for everyone who's mildly intelligent, which is a fair whack of the people I'm supporting directly. NFI what the sheep are doing, but they aren't my customers, so meh.

Fingers crossed they shut the place down, and I get a few weeks working from the couch in my undies while streaming Twitch. Can't wait!

    FMD,

At times i truly wonder if i work for a place that has a heavy cohort of medically trained people...

So bright fucking idea pops into someones head, hey if we got corona virus here in head office, we will just quarantine, in head office, in a space with aircon, tight packed pod style environment.... that was there fucking solution, i hear this shit and go, so what about all the partners at home, who you've now exposed directly or indirectly through forcing everyone to come to work and be in the same space as someone who has corona virus..... oh yeah we didn't think of that.

So i also find out that potentially someone at my wifes work may have been in the hot zone and has come back to work, and i ask my boss, because you know i do the right thing, saying that my wifes work maybe enforcing remote access next week, because someone there was an idiot and may have went into the office after being exposed, what do you want me to do. So they said, because im only a tertiary exposure (i said my wife had a meeting with said muppet in enclosed space, for a good 30 minutes) i am pretty much not at risk (i was like, i kiss and do many other more intimate things with my wife, what drugs are you on)....

And then finally because i am on holidays in a week and a half, and going on a cruise ship to Hawaii, work try to tell me if i get quarantined and i don't have the virus they have to take it out of my annual leave, but i f i do get infected, they will grudgingly pay me out of my sick leave...

Yup, surrounded by qualified medical professionals... FFS

when you get a new vendor and their support is complete shite you're about to tell them to shove the product up their arse then out of the blue you discover - that guy.

I cant wait for everyone who will inevitably be working from home over the next few weeks to try and watch Youtube like they normally do at work and obliterate the massive VPN and/or Citrix farms :)
Also remember to VPN to Italy and get Free Pornhub Premium for a month. LPT.

Fully expecting many organisations citrix/RA set ups to fall over hard when more than the 50 normal people try to log on. no youtube/pornhub streaming required.
