I am pleased to confirm that [VV removed] is selling GENUINE SanDisk 2Gb Ultra II CF cards for $116 express delivered.

This is what it looks like:

It doesn't come in the cardboard box that we usually see here, but it is a genuine card, so who cares :)

The serial number also appears on the edge of the card and has been confirmed as being genuine by SanDisk.

Great work thanks. You may want to move this information over to the OCAU Wiki.

Good work! It saves us having to use the forum search to find these threads all the time :)

    How and where?
    No, I didn't get one.
Are the 'payment summaries' from eBay the same as a receipt, and are they enough to claim a warranty if need be?

I doubt it, eBay isn't who you are paying. I'm after it to claim back on tax as well as the warranty - although I think for SanDisk they don't require proof of purchase.

BTW have you got serials on the base of the cards themselves?

I bought a genuine CF Kingston card and a fake Sandisk MiniSD card from eBay in the last fortnight.

    http://stores.ebay.com.au/Tech4bargains-Digital-Electronic
    ebay ID: acptan

I wont list who sold me the fake one, but I'm not too concerned, it just holds MP3's in my phone. I'm not suprised at all that it's fake, it was posted from Adelaide if you are interested.

They're a fair bit slower than the original ones, but I'd imagine that the biggest concern would be their [long term] reliability.

They're quite a bit slower than a genuine card, they're not covered by SanDisk's warrenty, and you don't know how reliable they will be.
See here for more details on my experiences with a fake SanDisk CF card, including some write performance tests.

    Cheers,
    Martin.

    Sorry to hear about that.
It is frustrating when you buy something thinking you will have it well before a certain date, and it doesn't turn up!

Give him or his friend a call on the mobile: 0404 51 00 66

Also ask for a refund on postage costs, which is a very reasonable request.
Don't threaten negative feedback, unless he refuses to refund.
As for having a 'useless' card...someone here may be interested in taking it off your hands.

in regards to the deal with sandisk miniSD,
I mentioned in the other thread that I bought a miniSD sandisk 512MB card and that the user guide was like that of the fake examples which is what set me off thinking I might have bought a dodgy piece.
however, checking all things through, performance seems to be right, storage capacity seems correct, the label colouring seems to fit, there is a number/code engraved onto the back of the card and there is a holographic sticker on the box all seeming legit.
so, I might just suggest that maybe the manuals are a bit of a bad guide for this, and that perhaps the FAKE manuals were printed off miniSD manuals which are different to normal SD manuals (or something to that effect). or perhaps, also as likely, I just have a very good fake :|
the thing about it though is that i purchased this from a strathfield, not online.

    All,

Due to this thread's inherent value in teaching people how to spot fakes and general other information that could be of interest (benchmarking results, compatibility issues, support, that sort of thing) - it is being reopened. There is one condition to the reopening though, and that's the vendor verdict posting. While it would be nice to be able to post who's selling the counterfeit cards, for obvious reasons we can't be associated with that sort of thing. Subsequently, we also can't allow the good verdicts to be posted either, as this opens us up to being spammed by vendors, and with posts by people with no actual authority to claim a seller as having genuine product.

So please, continue the thread - but we can't have the vendor verdicts.

I suppose, seeing as it's not actually published on the forum.

That fake "Sandisk" looks identical to the fake "Sony" that I have except that the colour and print are different.
