Just tried the new update, HDR very welcome and the RT improvements are huge, as an early RT game I always found the look to be very noisy/speckly and smeary but it's really smoothed out at ultra rt settings now

I think I need to install this again and maybe play through with the AWE dlc before I go back to AW2. Control is still Remedy's benchmark for best gameplay imo, though I am a fan of pretty much all of their work for various reasons. I kind of wish they skipped over the Firebreak idea and just ran headfirst into the Control sequel but I'm a patient man and can wait.

Max Payne Trilogy & Control most definitely.

The Lake House in AW2 is quite strong but would recommend AWE before going back to it.

At least we have Max Payne 1 & 2 Remakes after FBC then the Control sequel after that.

Looks as dreadful as I feared when I first heard about it.

What a waste of dev hours

I've added this to the list of games i need to give another go. Pretty sure i've tried this one 4 times and just never really gelled with it. Always was put off by the voice acting which felt very...unnatural. Gameplay wise found it ok. But, i'm an open minded kinda guy and a sucker for trying games again and again.

The voice acting felt at home in the dystopian scifi setting in my mind, a little uncanny and not quite 'right'. Finland is also home to a pretty unique group of people so having a strange vibe is a given (and part of the charm).

It's not a very long game if you focus on the main stuff, shouldn't be that hard to knock it out.

my problem is 2nd or 3rd play through and I had a corrupt game save issue.

so had to stuff around trying to copy and past old save game info and lost a bunch of progress

It's worth persevering. The action becomes super slick, simple and intuitive and the ashtray maze is one of those beautiful moments in game design that don;t come along often (there is a similar and I'd say even better one in AW2 BTW)
