CoolChip (with what appears to be support from CoolerMaster) has created a new air cooler design.

    science TLDR

They're claiming 50% more efficiency when compared to a server rack blower, and 20dB quieter. The only downside i see as that they don't get a directional outlet, to expel hot air from the case.
I also wonder if these can be mounted vertically.

Perhaps a new direction for air-coolers?

I didn't even think of GPUs, not a bad idea.

TBH i want to know if it works well in reverse. A torrent of hot air being spewed straight up could be directed out of the case. Maybe used in conjunction with fan shrouds

The fans low profile makes it a good candidate for htpc's.

Any benefit to combine that with liquid cooling?

or stack on top of each other?
