you are going to need more cooling. maybe it might be wise to invest in some deltas to force the air into the 1mm gaps.

Just curious. Have you thought about the current draw at bootup that all those drives will take? Even if you put it on a separate supply I'm still wondering what the peak current draw budget of all those drives is..

Looking at the Drive specifications the draw on boot is only a tiny smidgen higher then read/write operations. I recon that shouldn't be a big issue, he's calculated current draw on the event all drives read/writing all at once.

that is a friggin awesome machine, good work

i could imagine a virus scan with norton would take 1-2 weeks on that behemoth!

love to see screenies when you get it all running.... with hdd temps and cpu usage and a few benchies :)

i can imagine your power bill will go through the roof thou.... and i suggest building a padded a/c room for it to live in. its gonna be noisy

    Thatws just insane...

You realise it would probably be cheaper to buy 12x 1TB drives which would need no mods at all in a stacker....

But wheres the fun in that!!!

I though 3.2TB in my stacker was insane.... I was wrong.

    Well done, great mod.

You sir, are a god amongst overclockers.

As for your storage needs.... I guess you have enough space for the rar AND the avi files now :p

Can't wait to see the cabling work! I don't think it's possible, you will have to remove some of the drives. It looks sooo impossible!!!

Prove me wrong please:thumbup:

    Insane. Crazy Crazy Crazy man.

I'm almost tempted to send it to Dan's data and see what he reckons about powering and wiring this work of art.

Look ingat the case, how is the 3 Power supplies that you mentioned going to fit in there, or did i miss it, the power is going to be external?

Very nice server mod, it takes a lot to get me excited since Ockie over at hardforum did his 30 HDDs in the LianLi case a while back.. I just got my server to 12x750GB Seagate 7200.10s in raid 5 and thought I was doing great!! While i love the effort, the point made that 13-14 1TB hdds could have provided the needed space, but good God, your work is soo cool, now you just need 47 1TB Seagate 7200.11s, when they get into the wild!!!!!!!!!! Keep up the great work:)
