I notice we have a lot of GPU specific threads but not much talking about pricing.

Given the current generation of AMD and Nvidia top tier cards make high frame rate 4K gaming a reality we can arguably say we have peaked - certainly at 1440p and 1080p.

Today I witnessed on EBay the sale of a generation old AMD 5700 XT - refurbished - it was over $1000 when I checked with 15 minutes to go. 743DA1B6-0A37-4EE2-9CE8-91D8E07715BE.png

The Nvidia low end 3060 card of current generation can no longer be purchased for under $750.

How much has your video card appreciated since purchasing and how long ago did you purchase it?

It's popular to blame the miners right now, so let's go with that :leet:

My second last purchase was a 1080 for about $799 or $699 iirc and about 3 years ago. Latest purchase the 3080 for $1,300. How much is my 3080 up from that? Who knows, not selling.

Yeah, it's insane. Glad I picked up an RX6800 for about $980 when I did. Almost pressed the BUY button by reflex when I saw them in stock.
I'm still kinda interested in an MSI Suprim X 3080, but I suspect that if I ever see one in stock now it'll be more than I'll want to pay for it (on principle, really).

Hard to know what the current prices for cards actually are, when so many retailers aren't even allowing orders - I imagine that if they ever get stock, the price will be jacked up when they re-enable ordering.

    Crazy times.

Glad I'm not still sitting in the PLE launch night queue and decided to camp it out waiting to snipe one :D

got my gaming trio x through HN's for 1469 had a 2 month wait. Was impossible to get any info out of them other than what was posted under the "pre-order" tab on the website to be fair they kept the price the same until the pre-order button changed to sold out in Feb, seen some places wanting 2K for them

Let us know how you go.

I've got a couple of GTX970's I used to run in SLI - checking Ebay / Gumtree they're worth nearly $200 each which is ridiculous.

Was only hanging onto them as selling them seem to be a hassle, but for that type of money it might be worthwhile.

I bought my MSI RTX 3080 Gaming X Trio in January for a very overpriced $1,600. People here thought i was being stupid - and now the standard price around the place seems like be $1,750 - $1,900 - but they're out of stock

    More like $2500-$2700. $1600 for MSI's flagship RTX3080 is a bargain.

Errr....not sure where you've seen any 3080 for $2,700 let alone the Gaming X Trio (which isn't MSI's flagship FYI):

That is insane. $2,800 for a 3080. What is even crazier is they actually have stock.

I had offers of $2k for my 3080 when I was toying with the idea of moving to a gaming laptop, made me pretty much yeah nah my way out of that because if I change my mind I won't be able to wind it back if people are that desperate, wouldn't find another GPU any time soon. The market is boned. RIP anyone looking.

Someone offered me 1200 for my 2080Ti but nothing is in stock to replace it so I'm hanging onto it with both hands.

i feel like i've been priced out of the market and the last GPU i bought was $1300.

as if the 2XXX series wasn't bad enough.
