I was actually struck by the opposite - something like mankind divided has a tiny space by comparison but every part of it is service of gameplay. it's the city block game vs the open world game. Just to be clear though the execution of the Cyberpunk game world from an art direction and design perspective is a staggering achievement.
Actually most of things that people have gripes with like vertical spaces, locked doors etc were originally supposed to be in the game. Well not so much vertical spaces but there was an entire underground sewer map that was removed from the game because the exec felt it was not pretty enough. This is probably worth a read. Not sure about authenticity of these kind of things as CDPR won't acknowledge it even if it's true. https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLeak...67/alleged_cdpr_dev_talks_about_the_state_of/
https://twitter.com/CyberpunkGame/status/1346877421535035392 There is also actually a news quote in the game about the sewers and the homeless population on one of the radio stations, just as a somewhat related tidbit.
specifically on sewers - these are constantly panned by reviewers and players alike. I for one don't mind that there isn't one. not too sad they are gone, my biggest gripe - no train. I always ride the trains at least once in open world games!
amazing achievement of a game, really. i shit talked 2020 graphics in games but this is beyond by a far cry. such polished feel notwithstanding the funny bugs.
Ok found something else I have a gripe with, basically the street racing - I dont hate the physics, guess more a controller part of the game but the terrible AI in the races and the cheese teleport mechanic. Lol looking back while driving is comical at best, they're everywhere and cant keep a straight line then teleport over and over. Anyway if you face forward you can sort of ignore it but its a little underwhelming. Glad I left it till one of the last character lines. Spoiler Actually dislike the whole racing quest line, just did it tonight and found the Claire plot was really shithouse -- waa waa husband died in a race where you try and kill each other waaa waaa waaa.. ontop of their shit plot line they squeezed in some transgender tick box too. Meh. Oh well, I guess all games need a really bad character
on a sadder note: RIP to Brad Venable who died suddenly from a heart attack age 43 a week ago. He was the original Honest Trailer voice & VA for games such as WoW, Final Fantasy VII Remake and Devil May Cry 5. edit: ooh, he also did the voice of Venom in the 2018 film of the same name. news via: gamerant
i gotta agree, this was a pretty weak storyline. the racing was way too easy as well i just used Claire's truck thing the entire series and won each race easily - also the driving worked better in this than the main game. Definitely a low point.
What do you mean aside from Johnny? If you're implying Johnny is a bad character I couldnt disagree more. One of my all time favourites and not just because of it being Keanu =)
Dunno, I completely disagree. Love his character, you love him and hate in many respects which is what makes him a stand out for me. I love all the interactions I have with Johnny, obviously some people may not but hey, I don't like black and white and his character certainly delivered on that. His character is more in line with my Grimdark characters.. I'm a major Cyberpunk book nerd so probably the other reason. Johnny is the best character in the game, heads and shoulders above the rest in my view. I liked a couple of the fixers but unfortunately they only had minor roles.
