secret ending requires a good relationship with Johnny I thought
The secret ending requires three specific dialogue choices at the end of a certain mission.
damn, wishing there was a claire romance option
Yeah, bit surprising considering how progressive/inclusive the game attempts to be. Her story is well written.
Her husband only died very recently in the storyline, I'm guessing the writers thought that'd be a bit on the nose.
And River hitting on you (as female V) during his story line wasn't?
Meredith would have been another interesting one
God that gave me the shits.
Absolutely no option to say "Yo River, I'm a LESBIAN. See this big shotgun? My girlfriend gave it to me." Nope. If you want to finish his storyline, he (and his family, on his behalf) continues hitting on you while you rush around the city trying to find his nephew who was abducted by a pedophile and then after that he talks you what he thinks is a date because he can't take a goddamn hint. And you still end up being forced to talk about ex-boyfriends even if nothing you've done so far in the game suggest that V is bisexual.
Don't even get me started on the writing regarding the V/Judy relationship in the Arasaka ending. That infuriated me more than any bug or crash. It ended up being the crowning heap of shit on the shit sandwich that was the game's woeful quality on release.
There is an option for that and an interesting reward.
only a short encounter tho, nothing to bring to the end.
im still rolling through my first round as male v, thought there would be some options but looks like panam is ganna have to do
Yeah obviously a tutorial disguised as game-play.
If Panam doesn't 'do' then you're a pickier man than I
don't think i have been mentally invested since mass effect 2, so these trivial things matter lol
Built a PC for my niece, took the opportunity to play the game using new hardware. Got to do the secret ending, "don't fear the reaper"
Is not possible with stealth build. Replayed and only focus on body, reflex and technical. Overwatch sniper rifle for the mech and Kitana for everything else.
Only at L40 was I able to barely finish. At L50 is easy.
Is the game still buggy? Or is it just me?
On old PC it would freeze / stutter occasionally. Just for a second or so. I figured the game was just pushing hardware (4790k /GTX 1070) to the limits.
Now (13600k / RTX3070) it's become almost unplayable.
Was OK for a while - but now the game itself doesn't freeze, but the input (both mouse and keyboard) do, so the bad guys keep shooting, or the car keeps driving, but I can't do anything but watch.
This happens for several seconds at a time, and way too often.
I'm playing via Origin. I've tried the Manage installation > verify /repair. I've got rid of all overclocks (CPU, RAM. GPU...) but nothing helps.
I'm running medium / high settings, with ray-traced reflections and DLSS enabled, and getting playable frame rates (50 - 75 @ 1600x3840)
Other games are working fine.
Temperatures are good.
Any ideas how I can fix this? Absolutely gutted that I've spent a wad of cash, partly so I could enjoy this game - and now I can hardly even play it.
Try turning off Origin overlay. I would say this is the issue
If that doesnt help then try a different DLSS setting. ie performance or something lower than your current setting
My error - it's not Origin, it's GOG Galaxy, whhich is where I bought the game.
I've tried linking it to steam, but that still launches via Galaxy.
Tried various DLSS settings - no joy, and crappy frame rate with DLSS off.
Also turned off V-sync, and tried right clicking and "run as administrator". And the problem persists.
Close to rage-quitting TBH.
Will try uninstalling and reinstalling next - although I only did that 2 weeks ago.
disable raytracing and play it in a window mode.
The other thing you can do is download a latency monitor program and having it run in the background while you play and it will report what may be causing the problem.
This is one I have used in the past
Thanks for the suggestions / help.
I gimped the settings - so low I was getting 90+ fps - but the issue remained.
So I looked at what programs I had running at startup - and started uninstalling the suspects.
Didn't have to do many.
EVGA Precision turned out to be the culprit - I have an EVGA GPU and used the software to set the LED's. I use MSI afterburner for tuning.
Thankfully, even with it uninstalled the lighting settings (temperature) have stayed - if it had reverted to the default rainbow-puke I'd have had to find the aRGB wires and unplug them.
Back to enjoying the game, with a decent amount of eye-candy, (inc some ray-tracing) @ ~ 50-60 fps.
