I hadn't received a email from GMG with my steam key yet :wired:, but logged in to their site and checked my games list and my steam key was there, the lazy bastards just hadn't emailed me. Pre-loading now. :D

Just though this might be helpful to other GMG customers if you're in the same boat.

1 day 17 hours according to steam. I'm hoping they're allowing us to unlock it earlier though... Just got a call from EB about my phys copy being ready for pickup tomorrow.

Yeah, global release. Kind of silly when it's already being sold in retail here.

Yeah I was wondering what would happen if you bought from retail today.

Unlocks tomorrow at 9am I think.

    It can be preloaded.
Add the key in steam, then go to your games list and click preload.
    8.2GB download.

If you've got a retail copy, might be worth to preload the game anyway if you want to play when it unlocks. Games journalists/people who have early access have reported a update.

I've installed Dark Souls 2 in my home theatre PC and launching out of Steam in Big Picture mode to have a console-like experience. Two problems I have noticed:

    1) The "information" screen that pops up at the start is some flickering unreadable mess.

    2) It says "Press Start" but no amount of pressing start on the XBox 360 controller will make the game start. Huh? Wait... it doesn't respond to controller input AT ALL. It knows a controller is attached, but just refuses to listen to it.

    *sigh*

Press the A button instead of the start button.

Just beat the dragon rider and it's where I'll have to stop for the day.

It took me 2 hours to figure out how to level up and finally get my estus flask haha.

It doesn't respond to that either. It seems that a lot of people are complaining that their controllers don't work :(

I never played the first Dark Souls, and I'm guessing it might help if you like the series, but I'm really not enjoying this game.
It wouldn't look out of place in 2008 and the controls are ridiculous.
I'll probably give this another go when I'm in the mood. But I'm guessing only fans of the franchise will like this game.

    Stick with it.

This is my first in the franchise, but enjoying it. 28 hours and 100+ deaths in :S

Will do. This game seems to have all the elements I like. However, after trying it tonight, I just felt really let down. I really want to like it!

Took me a fair while to figure out how it works.

Go back and level up a lot. Farm if you need to. Be really patient. Learn each enemies different moves. Keep tabs on what weapons/spells you want to use and the attributes you need to level to get them.

friend got impatient coz the site he bought hadn't sent him a key yet so he bought another copy (wasnt even released when he did that) gave it to me.

not much help with regards to controls or story for the game tbh, never played dark souls before.
