New kits dropping soon for 12th Gen Intel.

    https://videocardz.com/press-release/g-skill-announces-trident-z5-ddr5-memory-up-to-6400-mt-s

You will be able to get three memory frequency configurations for the new Trident Z5s, ranging from 5600MHz to 6000MHz, and 6400MHz. Each frequency can be configured with either CL40 timings or faster CL36 timings. All kits will come in a 32GB (2x16GB) dual channel kit configuration.

Worldwide availability will start sometime in November of this year.

    Price TBC

Absolute speeds seem off the market with today's 3800c14 standards:
    3800Mhz CL14 = 7.37ns
    6400Mhz CL36 = 11.25ns

Sure perhaps some people here will have fun overclocking these :)

That is about equal in latency to 3200c18. But possibly double the bandwidth.

right so double the bandwidth at half the speed. same same.

3200c16 would have a higher effective throughput?

If history is anything to go by, mobo bios updates will obviously refine these results. Meh.. sticking with DDR4.

Is there actual real world performance gain?

The specs look slower than current some DDR4 speeds (3800c14 for example). Testing will show it there is some other benefit not known yet.
