got a link for that? static ice still shows $399 as the cheapest.

I sold my EVGA 8800GTX KO off end of November on ebay ($615) and the plan was to pick up Dual 8800GTs but the prices went up and i got busy at work then the 9800 series where just around the corner. But its been 3 months since i've had a decent video card and i can't wait any longer 9800GTX by the end of the week for me. 7600GT just aint cutting it on my 24" monitor.

Picked up 2 gainwards from work today for a not too shabby $400 a piece. Am running tests right now to see how they go. Will report back soon with results.

    initial 3dmarks:
    E8400@3.6, 9800GTX SLI@stock : 16974
    E8400@4, 9800GTX@750/1150 : 18768

Bout to run some crysis benchmarks see how it goes. I'm selling the E8400 and picking up a Q6700 when the prices come down in a couple weeks, lack of quad is holding me back a little. Frozen SS comes back from being fixed this Friday, so all in all should make for a good combo...

Sorry to make it sound like it's scientific fact...my issue is I hate the look of the nvidia block diagram, you will find my wingeing about how stupid they are not having 64+ PCI-E lanes(preferably 80) comming straight off the northbridge, as opposed to routing it through some possibly god aweful southbridge.. all over the forums :p

if you have to make it bigger...MAKE IT BIGGER not like they hold any level of heat or energy efficiency award at the moment anyway

Looks like some nice gains with a cpu and gpu overclock

Nah they just want you to buy a new motherboard everytime a new cpu comes out...they wouldn't want to make an actual good motherboard (or cheap), and give you the luxury of having it more than a month or two :D

But on a serious note, i don't see why they would make it more complex..if they could make it less complex..

The whole "ohh look, here's another X16 slot" thing every 6 months reminds me of the stupid old PCI roll out oh so long ago...remember fighting the ISA slots ??

Thankfully MSI have got the 4 slot thing....I've not seen the diagram as to what's attached to what on this board though :|

this whole arguement is pretty theoretical without some one actually doing the testing...and I have 3K worth of car stuff that's gonna stop me doing anything for the next 4 weeks :(

as much as I hate to agree with you(on grounds of the winning argument meaning that the company are marketing barstards) I suppose that's the only valid reason that they did not just go straight for having enough PCI-E lanes to be future proofed.

    what CPU?

care to try some SLI tests for us with the second card moved from slot 2 to slot 3 for a round? curious to see how it impacts..TRI-SLI...probably won't help so much until we see what the story is with latency

    Just 3dmark 03/06 + Crysis should be enough I suppose :)
