Hi, just need to ask if the following Dell S2721QS Monitor is any good, a guy in our local Gumtree is selling one for $375 (apparently it is only 6 months old) as he is moving interstate and is selling up all of his computer related stuff.

    https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/del...1qs/apd/210-axfo/monitors-monitor-accessories

I thought i might offer him $325 and save $50 and put that towards posting it to my Son in Melb.

    Any thoughts.

Was waiting for this question, just general stuff and a bit of gaming.

He also does video editing, but i think if his focus is more for the editing use, and color grading, then something like an UltraSharp U2720Q might be a better option, given that it has the 99% sRGB factory calibration set to Delta-E level of less than 2, which the S2721QS Monitor does not have out of the box.

Can grab one of those for $819 from MWave: https://www.mwave.com.au/product/dell-ultrasharp-u2720q-27-4k-uhd-99-srgb-usbc-ips-monitor-ac33903

EDIT: Turns out this dumb seller has no phone number listed, i asked him for his number, but he just reply to tell me i can ask stuff by email and he will reply asap, i just told him to stop being stupid and wasting time, i also told him that even if i am interested, i will need to go to his place to look at it first, he will probably want to meet up in a carpark somewhere, which i refuse to do, and i want to see it running.

Some people are fucking hopeless, or paranoid, when i advertise stuff in Gumtree (not very often) i actually tell people that i will ignore taxt and email messages, if they want the item then call me, this sorts out the ratbags pretty quick, because a lot of the time people refuse to call, especially the younger generation.

I have one of those monitors - bought it in the black friday sale last year for $298. It was ~$330 or so in an ebay sale recently, too.

I quite like it. The colours are good - I have it next to my old Dell U2311H Ultrasharp monitor, and it looks every bit as good. I don't do video or image editing, just casual gaming, web surfing, and my day job (which is mostly number crunching using specialist modelling software and MS Excel), and it excels at those tasks. 4k streaming video looks very nice.

Thanks guys, i kind of don't look in OzBargain, seems like i need to more often, and i did check some review sites that seem to rank it better than almost every other screen in it's class, was not sure if the Color specs would be good enough for video editing, which was kind of a silly thing to say, of coarse that screen is ideal for editing, it is the color grading side of editing that i was think of, and that UltraSharp U2720Q would be more likely the better screen for grading.

It seems like that guy in Gumtree is asking too much after all, glad i didn't jump, and as it turned out, the seller didn't put his mobile number because English is not his primary language, and he seemed to think that chatting via email was easier for him, but not for me, i don't sit on my laptop all day and night, and i certainly don't do emails on my phone.

He did end up sending me his mobile number, and he still has it listed, so i will call him tomorrow and offer him the $300 pickup and cite these specials from OzBargain and dell.

    Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks, that is the model without the height adjustable stand, might grab it anyway, and have it shipped direct to my Son in Melb, especially that even though the guy in gumtree did send me his mobile, he still has not replied to a text that i sent him.

My son is checking it right now, it shows up at $302 in the link, so i have added it to my cart and try the code on purchase.

Thanks for that, i had not heard from my Son about the other non height adjustable model which is why i didn't buy that one yet, so glad i never bought it.

BTW where did you get the LOVEKEANU code from ?

EDIT: I offered the guy in Gumtree $250 for his screen, he told me he won't sell for less than $350, even though i sent him the link to the dell website showing $302 delivered.

generic discount code that Dell often uses. just order from Dell directly, not worth the hassle dealing with idiots on gumtree

Thank you for that, i just bought one for my Son.

He was concerned about the color and contrast for editing/color grading etc but Dell calibrates these types of screens to 99% sRGB which is fine for most stuff, but Dell also offers a Display Management tool for those who want to tweak the settings themselves without having to pay for hardware calibration tools, so if he uses that screen and it is not what he needs, then he can post it to me and i will use it, as i have been thinking about connecting my 17" Metabox laptop to a much larger screen like that Dell one because my eyesight is getting worse, or i may even build or buy myself a brand new 8 core mini computer box.

Decent monitor but I would suggest buying new as Dell runs great specials frequently

Yep as mentioned in previous post, the new Screen is now on it's way to my Son in Melbourne, $280 delivered is insane for a screen like that.

I got him to download the Dell Display Manager tool and the user guide so that he can manually set the screen up to his liking, given that he does some editing and grading with his freelance Cinematography work, if the screen is not up to the task then he will send it to me to use with my 17" metabox laptop, and i will get him the UltraSharp U2720Q model that has the 99% sRGB factory calibration set to Delta-E level of less than 2, which should be better out of the box.

Sorry, I didnt fully read it. It starts at 6pm AEST, so you still have time. I have the 2x1440 model on a LCD arm, plus another in another rooom. 4K on 27" LCD would hurt my eyes.

I swear i read 6am in the link, thinking i was too late.

Won't be home at 6pm, will be at the Old Woolstore getting drunk waiting to watch Brisbane play Richmond.

Actually i just opened Firefox on my mobile and bookmarked the Ozbargain link to my home screen so i can find it at 6pm.

BTW how does watching stuff on a 27" 4k screen hurt your eyes ?

Not nessarily watching 4K stuff on a 27", more work stuff which 1440 is suffient. Still use dual 1920x1200 at work. I have tried a non IPS 4K 27 and it wasnt plesant.

You will need to be quick, the last time I tried one of those types of specials it was over in less than 5 minutes.

    More LCds here, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/624756 s2721d for $199.
