quick question, my new xps 1340 seems to have a little bit of a rock. i.e. its stand/pads/feet are uneven. is this something that dell are likely to fix or do something about if i ring up and complain? edit: rang dell and asked them about the rock and a tech will be out to put a new bottom onto the laptop. I think they were also talking about replacing the entire laptop, but that would have taken a few weeks. Also seemed rather extreme.
ok they are sending out a new ac adapter and cable... thought something was not right lol so we will see how it goes besides that the system is great cheers greg
Dell have changed one of their xps16 laptop deals today which might just might push me over the edge to get one Free RGBLCD upgrade on there $3099 system T9550 8gb ram 500gb hdd bluray drive intergrated creative sound wifi bluetooth and the RGBLCD Free Microsoft(R) Office(TM) Home and Student 2007(English) now with the 15% discount code thats $2600.47 quick question do you think its worth the 3 year warranty or should i just get the 2year? Oh and Hells angel ring me quick i'm gonna order
Damn you Dell! I only ordered mine on Tuesday! Thanks for the help HellsAngel btw. Annoying that Dell pulled the last minute 'price drop' though.
yer it sux paying more for a lesser system (I payed 3k for mine a few weeks ago with 2gb less ram) oh well cant win them all anyways new ac adapter has arrived and its as quiet as a mouse so its all good again the system is great sitting atop the zalman nc 2000 notebook cooler although I have not stressed out the system yet with photshop etc thats on the to do list haha
My XPS16 delivered today @ 2pm but nobody's home. Called number to re deliver but waited for about 5 mins , then hang up. Anyway tried again and this time waited > 10mins , finally i got through, guess what waited for another few minutes arrggg. Then the bad news, i have to wait till monday........
Ordered the XPS16 2 weeks ago, apparently arriving on or before the 25th *crosses fingers* I got; T9550 - 2.66GHz RGBLED 6GB RAM 500GB HDD Blu-ray drive 3 year warranty + 3 year gizmo thingy [the dude threw it in extra] MS Office Home/Student Vista Ultimate [can upgrade to Windows 7] and After hours delivery.. for $2784 there was a stuff up when I ordered online and the dude called me up and I kinda haggled with him pretty happy with the price, sort of wish I got the 8GB RAM though but I'm sure 6 will be enough... right?
Hybrid SLI on 1340 There's no BIOS option I can see, with Hybrid SLi it's using almost 1 GB of RAM and I wonder if that can be reduced as i only have 2.3Gb free.
1: Just wondering what the best price has been for this one since its first release Dell Studio XPS 13 Laptop (S510209AU1] it is $ 1999 ATM 2: Are there any codes or ways of reducing the price further ?? 3: Is it due for an upgrade any time soon ??
well my m1530 batty has just died, (only get 1hr out of the 9cell) so it looks like ill be looking for a replacement, and in good time. its good to see that the xps16 has been updated to a decent gfx card. i was pricing one up but there's still no sign of 9 cell ? HA are they going to be having it as an upgrade option later? p8700 2.5ghz | 4gb ram | 500gb hdd | 2yrs warranty for just under 2k is good also, i heard awesome reviews about the RGBLED screen upgrade, is it really that good? i spend most of of the time on forums, and gaming is done with a 22" does it assist better battery life?
Does everyone's power adaptor for the XPS16 get ridiculously hot? Also, do other people have "crackly" speakers?
No and no The power supply does get quite warm, especially when the ambient temp is warm. or when playing games...I wouldn't say it gets hot though.
Picked up mine today, I'll have a play around later when I get home from work I'm a little annoyed though because I paid for the extra after hours delivery but when I called the couriers back ['cause they left the card to say they'd been there etc.] they said that they close at 4pm and don't even do after hours service.. So I'll call up Dell when I get home and try and get some money back or try and cut a deal for a 9-cell battery or something Oh and what's the go with the Windows 7 upgrade? Is it just an update CD or do we get the full installation??
Re-install Vista and get rid of bloatware. My boot/login time just decreased by several seconds (5-6 at least) and firing up applications are very snappy now.
