does the native res of the u2711 require two dvi connectors?

got a single 4870, but if i went for this monitor, i'd want to run it tandem with my dell 24"

It uses a single DVI connector with dual link to support the resolution.

Ok so just an up date after 2 months,

    It's Really Really nice.

The black lighting in the right hand corner the screen has gone down, to almost nothing after slightly pushing the panel back a little.

Coming from a crappy 20" Viewsonc, my eyes no longer hurt while i'm on the computer - Which is a real plus!!

The size is perfect for desktop use and i could not be happier with it!

Can anyone who owns one of these please comment on the heat it produces? I have a 3008WFP and I can feel the heat radiating off it. The top of the monitor is also hot to touch. How does this compare to the U2711?

it radiates alot of heat lol... i was at DSE the other day and played with the apple 27" For viewing purposes i still think its far superior to this Dell with the LED backlighting, colour reproduction id have to play though.

Yeah pity the 27" macs have so many issues with the screens (yellowing, backlight bleedetc.). I've had 3 so far I've had to return, waiting on the 4th (and final if it's screwed) one....

cant believe they are having so many problems, however these Dells are far from perfect with backlight bleed aswell. Id still have the IMAC screen, colours are so much purer and the image is smooth with out the grain of the Dell's AG coating.

Just bought mine. For anyone about to buy it, try haggling on dell chat. I got mine down to $900 in the end. Cannot wait to see this thing!

Wow $900 is heaps cheap! I paid $1019 and that's with the 15% discount.

Too bad I can't check the Dell status page at the moment to see when my monitor will arrive. Last time I looked it was finished being built and was ready to be shipped from factory. Was hoping that these monitors would be already in Australia.

Yep, anyone interested in getting one should definitely ask for a better price, you'll save yourself at least $100. Just ordered mine for $1000, can't wait till it gets here :D.

When did you place your order Dragonfly? I was told a 7-10 day turnaround, but I'm a little skeptical on that :Paranoid:.

Ordered one on the 23rd, paid by bank deposit and it arrived the following friday 30th. Wasn't expecting it that fast, especially with anzac on the monday and bank deposit clearing on the tuesday.

hey, dont really know anything about monitors. currently using a benq 21'' and am looking to buy a bigger screen and use the 21'' on the side. this looks like a really nice monitor (obviously is for the price). i only really use my '3d power' for ARMA 2, is there any reason u can give me to not buy this monitor... like is it expensive because is has features that i woont use? will price drop in near future?

    specs:
    i7 950 @4.2(200x21)
    dominator gt c7 1600
    intel x 25 g2 80gb
    xfx 5970
    HX 1000W
    all water cooled

PS- do u think i will need another 5970 to not have too much of an inpact on fps when i have 2 monitors?
    cheers.
