They can't do much more on the U2711.

I have the discount code for the 15% off so it will be about $1000, which is better than $1200 :p

Are these much bigger than the 2408WFP? How much extra on the sides and above? I like the height of the 2408 but some extra on the sides would be nice :)

    the resolution is 2560x1440.

It's going to be a little higher and a little wider.

It's the resolution that will be significantly greater.

Yeah the resolution appeals to me. Hmmmm, I'd need another 5850 to power it.

Found the specs on Dell, the viewable screen area is 596.7mm horizontal and 335.6mm vertical for the U2711, 518mm horizontal and 324mm vertical. Nice extra horizontal width.

I'll give one more thought when they come up under $900.

Can't find anything on google.. need a bit of help..

K so i got my U2711 a couple of months ago.. got it all hooked up with my brand new pc.. everything running perfect.

A week later i go to move it around a bit. As i moved it back i pressed the menu buttons with my palm and the buttons beeped and turned off. Thought i must have just hit the power button.. but now whenever i restart i get no signal at startup! Nothing at all until it gets to windows login and then it turns on along with my keyboard and mouse lights and it's fine again.

I'm like.. this monitor gives me wood so i don't care.

Problem is i want to reformat and can't see bios or post.

Tried changing cables.. inputs.. reset factory settings on the monitor.. nada.

What setting could i possibly have changed? It's like it's in power save or something. Really need to format! Anyone help? Cheers.

If anyone is interested I am trying to organise a Group Buy of these screens at Whirlpool. http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1320136&p=-1#bottom

I have contacted the Dell sales manger for displays and I am awaiting a reply. If anyones interested please voice your interest in the thread below, it motivate him into agreeing to a good price for interested parties especially with it being so close to tax time for everyone

    Thanks

I'm definitely interested in the group buy/whirlpool discount, and posted a response there.

I had thought of going with eyefinity with 3 U2311H, but put that in the "too hard basket";), and then looked at other monitors, and nearly every other 27" is 1920 * 1080(I think there was 1 which was 1920 * 1200), which is the same as the 23" I'm currently using, so I wouldn't be any better off(I only use it as a monitor), and since the dell 27" is, to simplify it, 90% of the 30"(going by screen size, and resolution) for 60-75% of the 30"s price, the 30" isn't worth the extra price for me.

anyone having any issues with theirs, mine froze up for the 2nd time this morning, i went to wake the pc up and the screen wouldnt respond to anything or display a image, had to pull the power and back in. Also the sensing blue light at the front is staying on or flickering...

any word on the group buy? I see that $850 is achievable with individual haggling (refer to WP post) so I'm willing to go in for a group buy if it will better this significantly.

Hey guys still waiting on Scott@Dell getting back to me. He said he had a meeting and then would see what could be done, if anything. So I should hear something next week either way.

Once I get something ill post it here.

If it turns out I can get us a group buy price ill contact the mods here at OCAU to get permission to run it as Whirlpool doesnt want to run GB anymore.

keep your fingers crossed Dell comes to the party as I think they will get a lot of interest on this screen if they do one.

    Me too! :)

(Although maybe not if I can get my hands on a B273HU which has a slightly lower resolution than the Dell...)
