Feel free to add me as well gaiz:
Good to know. I've been on the verge of upgrading for a while, but the 9X00 series is so uninspiring, I've held off. This might be enough to tip me over it.
I would grab an 8X00K instead.
I've got a 6700k & 1080 and run 1600p, vsync on @60fps without issue. The fps only ever dips when transitioning from cutscenes or the initial spawn at the farm/tower when there's a shitload of people around, no issues half a second later.
I would still go the 8700k as the equivalent price wise is in theory a slower CPU (9700k) it has more cores but less threads. (faster gamer but slower cpu overall)
Usually at 1440p and beyond CPU doesn't matter as there is a GPU bottleneck but I have found some titles still care a lot about CPU..
-Far Cry 5
-Tom Clancys: Wildlands
saw big gains in these in the upgrade, next to none in some other titles though.
I will now call it Destiny Moo, because the Dev's just put the rest of the player base on farm. SAD
is it worth getting Forsaken with 25% discount atm? Enjoying the game just started, heard there are tons of stuff to do in Forsaken. I haven't played PvP or co op yet.
Thanks, but 4k has more than twice the number of pixels than 1600p. I think that would make a fair difference. Definitely to the GPU, if not to the CPU.
Sorry you didn't list your res, just assumed it would be 1440p or similar which a 1080ti should keep up with unless the Hz were high.
No, sorry, my bad. I thought I did mention it.
I am stress testing my GPU now, stable at 74*C for 30 mins, so seems to be okay there.
Alright. I'm 90% sure that it was the power setting. Was on adaptive, I set it to prefer maximum performance, and I don't see the frame rate drop below 58. even with about 11 guys in a public event.
For anyone else after another PC player - Deano20802#6468
As for performance, I tested extensively on 1440p with a 1080Ti using a whole range of CPU / RAM combos from the last 4 generations of Intel and found large gains from a faster CPU and moderate gains from faster RAM when chasing 144Hz.
I play with everything set to the highest possible except for DoF and Chromatic Aberration (I can't stand either). When it's hectic I sit around 102 - 112fps, and on the very odd occasion I might momentarily dip to 97.
I haven't tested at all at 4k though sorry, but it sounds like you're all over it now Sunder.

Alright added a few people, cheers.
So Thunderlord is pretty damn awesome!
Yeah got it just before. It mows!
I got it before work but just tried it out - damn it mows mobs!!
goes hard in pvp too
Why do I lose my secondary ammo (energy weapons) when switching between the guns in that slot?
it happens with every weapon when you swap them.it happens with supers as well, you lose all your super energy if you swap.
