First off I'd like to thank my sponsor Talk to the Nerds Computing Solutions (https://www.facebook.com/TalkToTheNerdsComputerSolutions) for helping with both the supply of parts (RAM and a few other little bits and pieces) and the paints.

So this all came about after my mate (who is a mad dexter fan and actually got me into the damn show ) asked me to do something dexter themed for him (He's someone who likes having one-off's -.-') anyways so that would be how all this began.

So. First off had me studying the beginning sequence and also some of the shows (who am I kidding it gave me an excuse to watch something  ) I started with this. Almost mint t61 (actually felt bad about dismantling it).

After dismantling and some primer and a few coats of white paint (ignore cans they're touch up for my e30 this was all done with a HVLP gun) we end up with this.

In this one you can see the problem with not painting in a booth. 0 orange peel but the flecks of dust are quite obnoxiously annoying.

That was the finish straight off the gun so very little sanding was done.

Now comes the fun bit. I did a large amount of searching on which paints seem to have the most realistic features of blood. I ended up using Massive Voodoo's guide (http://massivevoodoo.blogspot.com.au/2010/05/tutorial-how-to-paint-blood.html) which is brilliant I ended up using the tamiya method along with some flat brown and black (very very little black). Which gave me something I was reasonably happy with but still tossing up on. So, gave my mate a ring and he said he was really pleased with it and didn't want the Dexter logo on there and to leave it how it was. Enter this:

So yeah.. there you have it. Still to go will include clear coat and vigourous sanding (as you'd expect) to bring the splatter up to flat with the clear. and then reassembly. So. What does everybody think (keep in mind I already know the photo's are terrible as I didn't have my SLR with me and my Galaxy's camera acts as a potato some times. :p) I'd like to hear opinions and stoof :)

I would LOVE to walk into a uni lecture and open that up, just to see a few people freak out and walk slowly away from me!

I'm no painter, but I'd be more than happy with that!

Haha, thanks mate. I have another similar themed one on the way (Walking dead) for my niece's 15th birthday. I need to build a booth for that one though haha.

Looks great, but the handprint positioning is a bit weird.

Yeah there's a few things that could have been done differently. I didn't want to over do it however. It seems alright, I'm not a professional modder and it's pretty much just a bit of a foray into something different.

looks good, you should secretly film peoples reaction when you open this up on a busy train or bus, would be funny to watch..

Haha yeah the screen did need a good clean after that (sat in the shed for a little while) rest assured it's clean now and in use day to day Haha. I'm actually thinking of doing my monitor casing this way. Thanks for the kind words guys!

Did painting the trackpad have any negative effects? I would have thought it would be ruined.

Painting the track pad did absolutely nothing, still functions perfectly. Not sure as to why it would ruin it? But yeah, certainly hasn't negatively impacted the usage at all.
