It's hard to focus when there is no-one to sit in the chair and focus on, so there were many attempts at this. I put a tall cardboard tube on my chair with an x marked on it at face height and focused on that which helped a bit. I used the 50mm 1.4 with two brollies set up - one camera right and one right above my head slightly camera left. Backdrop was just a black sheet. I used a shallow DOF because I didn't want any detail coming out in the crinkled sheet behind me. I was going for a closer crop and a bit of a dirty cowboy theme. I get so sick of seeing head and shoulders for portraits, so I thought a tighter crop might be more confronting. Baz.
