    G'day all,
I have just built a pc for a friend, using the MSI K7T Turbo-R mobo, and its running great. I only have one hard disk in the thing, a 20Gb Quantum FBP AS 7200 one, and a cd-r drive. I have them both, on the standard onboard IDE controllers (HDD Primary Master, CD-R, Secondary Master) because I figured theres no advantage to using the promise, for normal ATA100 (no RAID).

The Problem is that when it boots, the promise bios searched for drives, doesnt find any, gives message to that effect, and then resumes booting about 5 seconds later.

I cant find anywhere in the mobo bios to disable the promise chip, yet I can disable the standard ones !! How is this done ?

Or should I just use the promise for my drives instead of the standard IDE ?

Also, if the system is running just fine (Win2k + SP2 etc) is there any point installing the VIA 4in1's ?? The system has a GF2MX, but stability is the priority, not performance (not a gaming machine).

    Thanks,
    Dave
