    Plenty of gains. My 7700k @ 5Ghz is a MONSTER :D

The current i7's (6700k/7700k) REALLY stretch their legs in the latest games, frequently offering a 25%+ performance increase over current i5's. The Witcher 3 benchmark is very telling..

Minimum framerate of an i5-2500k @ 4.2Ghz vs 6600k @ 4.2Ghz shows the 6600k being nearly DOUBLE in some places...

+1 to that. Used to be a new gen video card every ~6 months around the early Geforce era, spent so much money keeping up. Last desktop I build I got almost 5 years out of with a mid-life GPU upgrade (i7 920, GTX 285 > GTX770) and I'm about to build a new 7700K/GTX1080 machine that I hope to get ~4 years out of.

Dropping $3k every 4-5 years is much better than dropping $1k plus every year.

yeah watched this the other day, still skipping Skylake though - I reckon that Ryzen will push Intel to do something special next gen.

New GPU for me this year though - hanging out desperately for a 1080Ti, really wanted it for Mass Effect Andromeda but I think Frostbite is the saving grace on that title and my 980 should get the job done @ 4K.
