With the current exchange rate. Landing a S4 from the US is a sub $1000 excursion.

That said it's not out yet and the exchange rate could collapse.

VCI100 with Traktor is pretty good too. Check out some youtube vids and see what people can do with it.

S4 looks dope, can't wait to try one.

Personally, I'd be interested in a VCI + Kontrol X1 with traktor, that would be sick.

If your budget starts getting that close to $1,000 you'd be mad not to seriously consider a couple of 1200's with Serato imo.

Depends on which software you wish to use with it.

    xponent - torq
    vestax vci 100 - traktor
    RMX - virtual dj

download a copy of each and play around iwth it before you choose.

torq is noobie friendly, virtual dj is in between and traktor is more advance imo.

I personally chosed the xponent as torq is easy to use, it has a great sound card, and all the buttons on the controller are lit up so it is great in the dark.

The new traktor control s4 looks great though if you can afford it :)

Im pretty good with virtual DJ and I know how to create the macro thingies..

The xponent looks good, maybe the traktor is overkill for my music tastes (trance/house)

Traktor fucking rocks for 4/4, anything like trance / tech-house / techno etc.

I play mainly dubstep and I don't get heaps of play out of all the traktor features, but when I'm mixing 4/4 I really get into loops and effects and shit.

Awesome with the little X1 controller and a set of turntables.

Traktor Pro and a controller of some sort, Native Instruments only make the S4 as far as controllers go.

    Vestax? Behringer BCD?

If I was in your shoes, I'd probably grab a BCD3000, comes with Traktor DUO or something, which is AMPLE to learn on. Can plug turntables/other shit into it aswell. Later you can upgrade to Traktor Pro if you like.

What do you guys think of the Vestax Typhoon/Spin? Other than the stupid eq setup with sliders and not knobs, and no eq kills, it looks like a damn nice piece of equipment. Anything else I should be looking in the ~$300-400 range? (Would be used with Traktor, as i'm used to it).

    OKOK.

You do not need full kill EQ's.

I've got them on my Ecler and I actually don't like them- Very easy way to make a mix sound shit.

Full kill EQ can be rigged up in Traktor aswell by using the NUO preset for EQ.

Filters also are more useful than full kill eq.

$300-400 puts you in the range for some Hercules, Vestax and Behringer products. I think the Vestax is probably the best, but it depends on you.

Yeah I know. I can't afford CDJs either, what I was saying is the Vestac is going to have some of the features of CDJs (2 part platter mainly) that if you can learn to beatmatch on (please learn to beatmatch I didn't and I'm kicking myself for it). Make the transition to CDJs easy (say if you play at a bar/club for a friends birthday or a rich friend lets you have a spin)
