Just sold my Bicycle on Ebay and the buyer picked it up today. He paid by PayPal.

Just checked my PayPal summary and found it's on hold and requires adding shipping information to release the fund once it shows delivered. The thing is the bike was picked up so there was no shipping involved, so no way I can add tracking information to it.

Do I need to call PayPal support to explain the situation or else they wouldn't release my fund?

This is how it looks like now:

P.S Didn't know where to post if this isn't the right place admin please move it to the right one, thanks.

Wouldn't one check the funds have transferred before releasing said goods?
Anyway, your only bet would be to call Paypal to sort it.

Paying via paypal for local pickup?

Sounds like one of the many common scams.

I'm guessing he will lodge a claim that he didn't receive the goods soon.

Possibly but I wonder if it's simply because they want come back if there is an issue with the item?

The guy already has the address of the guy...

its also a second hand bicycle, what would you be expecting to happen that you wouldn't know within a few minutes?

Cash also means you can haggle, doesn't have fees etc.

I can't think of a genuine reason myself.

So? He may not feel like confronting him for a refund if there is an issue.

Cracks in the frame that may have been painted over, etc. There could be a few issues that only arise later after using it properly.

Ebay runs promotions so you get some discount if you pay via PayPal. To OP I think PayPal is just hanging onto your fund for a period of time to ensure no refund requests. You should get the money eventually.

    EDIT:

PayPal do this for new sellers, especially if the sale amount is bigger than normal. They hold it for 20 days or something , you can release them quicker if you upload tracking information and it shows delivered.

You can try to contact PayPal and provide email proof that pickup was arranged or just wait.

I edited my post above after seeing your screenshots

Just a note for future. Handing over an item in person when they've paid by PayPal is a risk Because if that person files a charge back and you don't have proof of delivery, you'll lose your money and item. Try to get License information and whatever proof you can to avoid this from happening

Right. There are reasons that someone would elect to use PP instead of COD, doesn't mean they are out to scam someone.

I'm curious, this person is coming from Adelaide to pick up the bike, what are they planning to do with it?

It is already in my PayPal account, just being held by PayPal, I have no access to it.

It's only been used for two times, then been sitting in the underroof garage ever since.

    I sure hope so...

Already cantacted PayPal, their no good for nothing support staff just copied and pasted the information on their website, nothing helpful. So I still can get my money without tracking information? Just need to wait for longer? If that's the case I can wait.

No he's from Melbourne, came for the music festival, picked up the bike, drove back to Melbourne.

It should be no longer than 21 days.
I was under the impression the date would be in the transaction information. But I can't see anything in the screenshots provided

You may THINK it's your account. It may even say it's your account, but let's be realistic here - paypal can freeze it for any reason (or none) any time they want to.
So is it REALLY your account, or theirs? (rhetorical question).

Ironically Gumtree only recommend using PayPal if you are picking up in person.

They won't cover a buyer not receiving an item freighted to them.

People just tend to use PP as peace of mind, that's all. Having said that though, as a seller I'll avoid PP where ever I can.
