    Hi Guys

Does anyone know of a place that will pickup/recycle/dispose of 3+ year old servers for little to no cost? (talking Dell 2950 era here).

Greys aren't interested. Was hoping to find someone short of a metal recycler.

There must be someone making a quid by stripping the parts from these things and selling them as refurbs in the Brisbane / SEQ area.

We are looking at doing the same thing with our old HP servers.

Will let you know if we find someone!

I've said that Grey's won't take them they're becoming snobby in their old age - seriously it's not the first time I've had this issue with them. You tell them "make it a pallet of 'as is' servers starting at $50" and they say "we won't make enough profit to bother picking it up let alone selling it".

The only issue of money is that we'd rather not *pay* to make them *landfill*.. because that's kind of shit.

I have no idea of the specs - I imagine they're like whatever config the average business your business would have bought in 2007-2009 - we cannot ebay them or sell them to private individuals - sorry.

I'm more than happy to tell you all the business we send them to that makes money by flipping such servers to geeks for a small profit.. if someone can just find me a business that will pull up and take them away to a good home..

I know a great place where people might buy them and take them away for you...

OCAU Swap and Shop forums (only for long term members like you)

    Oh... why's that?

Theres plenty of 2950's on ebay, hard to understand why you cant fob them off there.

Look up your local Lions club, there's a fellow up in Brisbane who takes any old hardware he gets his hands on (including servers), cleans them up and sends them overseas to disadvantaged countries. I think his name was Dave, we sent some old stuff up his way earlier this year

Appreciate the answer DonutKing but it's not quite what I'm looking for. Thanks!

I'm getting the feeling that I have asked the question in the wrong spot.

Are you just after a bloke with a ute, an ABN and registered business name to pick them after issuing him a $1 Tax Invoice, or does it need to be more legit?

Tried to send a message but your inbox is full, if you want a company to sell them to please let me know (depending on the specs).

We found most auction houses / disposal centres not worth the effort and previously haven't even had the sale prices cover the auction cost (ie we received a bill for the "privilege"!).

Tried asking via pm and above. How many do you have? Are you looking to sell or just get rid of them? You said cant sell to an individual but can give them to a business?

Sorry I wasn't clear. I am looking for a real company, like the one below not a bloke with a ute and an ABN.

That's more like it. Thanks very much.
