Curious to see what comes from the post-beta recap blog...
I think it was killed
having a proper commander was awesome but im really starting to feel like BF is just turning into COD with bigger maps
Funnily enough, CoD these days requires heaps of teamwork. How the turns have tabled.
Plunder and BR only, really.
Rest of the game modes are the same old shit from what i've seen.
As if there are any other game modes unless you're levelling guns.
Is a huge chunk of players who don't touch BR/plunder.
How dare you???
I believe they dropped the commander spot after Battlefield 2142.
Battlefield 4 had commander.
But it worked nothing like Battlefield 2/2142.
DICE is really afraid of having objectives in their games or having squads that need to work as a squad.
Battlefield 2/2142 had proper objectives/tactics to win
Bad Company 2 had awesome squad based tactics/destruction you would use to win (especially in rush), you needed teammates or a squad to help you with.
Battlefield 3 was a free for all where squads don't matter and almost all maps except for destruction in metro didn't have any tactics.
Battlefield 4 was when it really started a strong downhill trajectory, it was a solid game but with disappointing mapsunless you had the DLC. Also followed the downhill of destruction nerfs every game.
But if you don't have Battlefield you basically have to take it super seriously and play Squad, there's no inbetween anymore now that Battlefield 2042 has finished the transformation into COD/APEX.
Oh wow I completely forgot it was so under-used I didn't even remember it lol.
The game plays alright, although it is definitely much faster and arcadey than I would have hoped.
Also, the specialist system is just actually bad, they should more or less bin the whole thing and go back to classes and having teams that look different from one another.
and no story mode.
not even the crappy "war stories"
Or specialist traits in classes so they don't completely waste their time!
tbh i don't think a proper battlefield should have any story mode. SP to practice before jumping into some 64 v 64 pew pew squad action. At least, proper Battlefields should be like this...
People played the single player of previous battlefields? Sunk in over 1k hours since bf vietnam dont think ive ever clicked single player.
Exactly, just roll all those things in to classes and you've got it done imho.
Also, story mode in BF serves only to increased the download size.
Agreed it never needed a campaign except for the og bad company, that was the only good campaign they did
You would get multiplayer guns for finishing campaigns (I think the one with the Chinese girl you got three different ones for each ending choice, one was a p90 iirc) so that was an incentive to play.
In BF3 the MP412 REX was only unlockable by doing co-op story mode, and it was a great gun.
I watched some footage of 2042 and I'm just not interested. TBH I'd rather get BF3 up and running again.
