EA Battlefield 6 (Battlefield 2042)

Now that I am a couple of beers into my Friday night, it is taking a fair bit of effort to NOT buy this game. Looking at the BC2 footage is getting me hard as trigonometry...

 

Have to upgrade my windows lol. Beta it was okay but now I'm getting direct x errors. Oh well Cortana you saucy minx I'm coming.

 

Fuck! I literally did just this! Except it was $1000 exhaust for my car. Might as well have a few more beers to celebrate hey?

 

They fixed some bugs but UI still but meh and missing tonnes of things from previous BF games. Itl get better over time. It's just essentially early access.

Unless something changes you are shit outta luck.. 3090s hitting as low as 50fps at 1440 even with DLSS (which seems to do nothing)

The smaller portal maps and that tarkov fail mode are 100+ fps though.

It seems purely optimisation/engine issue as even turning game to low on a 3090 on the 128 all out war can't break 100fps.. A joke.

 

So far there are only 2 maps supported for BC2 (Rush) as far as I can tell. Spent more time in the menu then in-game.. although it was just released so maybe it'll pick up more servers with actual players

 

Alot of people complaining about 3090 performance but alot of 3080 owners are having a better experience which is wierd

 

Downloading 10hr trial now . Now to decide if I want to waste any of it not in portal

 

way better than the beta, was fun playing bc2 brings back some memories. im playing on a 11700k@5.3 and 6700xt red devil overclocked, at 1440p i get around the 90-110fps on high. might sell my gpu and upgrade again....its only been a week.

to link gamepass and eaplay
Install Xbox App if not already install (for some reason in search it doesn't come up) and EA app beta
Sign in to the apps with appropriate accounts
Search for EA play or similar, then click on view ea play games
click bf2042
click install with game pass
then the link thing will appear in the back ground, link game pass and ea play
restart ea app
install bf2042
enjoy for 10hrs

Better than the beta stability wise but still missing a bunch of good stuff. Portal is staggeringly good though.

I'm on a 3090 with everything maxed out at 1600p and don't seem to be having framerate issues. On a few month old nVidia driver.

 

Upgrade done and I'm in.

Protip for Nvidia users, go into the game specific 3d settings in the control panel and put Sharpening up to 0.50 (turn the film grain setting to 0). It makes things so crisp.

edit - 0.50 might be a bit high. I'm dropping it down a bit.

 

just on portal or all good even on 128 player all out war?

or just hit alt-f3 and select sharpening

 

I don't have geforce experience which I assume that's the key for.

Portal is really good, the server browser needs major work. Dedicated servers would be so much better. I tried hosting a simple BF3 with 128 players server and no-one joined.

God damn. for some reason couldn't seem to skip the douche "teaching me" how to play conquest . nearly punched my nice new monitor through the wall.

 

on 128 all out war. the only slowdown is when i do a quick 180 and it has to recache stuff.

 

yeah its pretty bad, just go into window mode and put it on mute.

 

Reminder for all:

If you have any fps issues then try disabling overlays, open console in game (~), and type "PerfOverlay.DrawFps 1"

Enjoy inbuilt FPS monitors without shit overlays.

 

Been gunning in the hovercraft with a clan mate driving, great fun lol

 

it blows my mind how good some guys are, 150 kills in a round and single easy head shots...
