If there's one good thing that could come out of this is Battlefront 3 by DICE.

I was going to say the very same thing. Even if they just re-skin BF4 when it comes out I wouldn't be disappointed..

Well it looks like the Star Wars game Obsidian was thinking about isn't going to happen :(

Sadly I'm pretty sure we won't be seeing any games the caliber of the Battlefront, Rogue Squadron, KOTOR or Jedi Knight series. Quality Star Wars games are dead

Do you think maybe that's because fans expect more now that gaming technology has advanced do much, but they don't want to wait for the game to be fully developed?

Also, there are the parallel stories that a lot of people don't follow (I am not interested in the cartoons) that I am sure some games/gamers are going to follow.

This could actually be good, DiCE and Visceral have both made some pretty decent games, I look forward to what they can come up with.

I can't remember a prettier space game than Dead Space and we've already seen how versatile Frostbite is so I'm pretty optimistic.

In all honesty I'd want Obsidian over BioWare to make KOTOR3, once you restore the missing content in KOTOR2 it's a much superior game to the original. Just look at fallout 3 and fallout nv for another comparison

I guess I was one of the few that didn't mind SW:TOR?

I don't mind it, and i still give it a bash every now and then.

This will either result in some good games, or it'll turn out to be a steaming pile of shit.

Chances are the latter, but i'll wait and see.

We can only hope that EA doesn't mess Star Wars up (further) but recent events leave me struggling for optimism.

I can see it now - "We apologize to our loyal customers and thank them for their forbearance. Our team is working hard to include lightsabers in the game."

This is my biggest concern, EA have published some pretty good games in recent years, inlcuding BF3, Dead Space (original) Mass Effect (full series for me, I know not everyone sees it that way) Crysis (1 not 2 or 3) etc. We've seen some nerfed sequels but all told I'm reasonably happy with the games they are publishing right now.

TBH there haven't been any really great Star Wars games of late either so, we can hope (and realistically only hope) that they can bring some decent talent to bear on the brand.

Yay, another game I get to download quickly through origin.

But seriously, I'm optimistic about this.

The last eleventy SW games have been for PSP or completely shite.

In fact I can't remember the last non PSP SW game.

Now I'll probably get a PC SW game. Coupled with a developer like dice, who already HAVE an amazing engine means that the traditional dev time could be used to make more amazing Jedi shit.

But I've been missing lightsabers for many years.

    That is all
