    Heya

I dont know anything about the Edifier S550 but I just got a pair of the Z5500s and they are pretty good. I get them real cheap but they are good when teamed up with a good sound card.

The logitech has alot more wattage than the edifier

Here's something for you to read. It is on an edifier website so be critical when reading it, but the pictures might help with your decision.

My pick would be the Edifier due to the tweeters and MDF housing for the satellites.

I'm using z5500's for my TV+HTPC in my room. Running and optical lead from my TV though. I'm no audiophile but they sound great, really happy with the purchase.

z5500 ftw, multiple inputs (analog, digital, spdif), insane bass.

Bass + treble is good, mid range is ok but could be better.

So if your playing games or movies the Z5500 THX Certified + Dolby Digital decoder would flourish over the Edifer.

If it's music and you like the hip hop or bass music then yeah Z5500 would do more than blow your ears up, you feel the vibration.

If its opera full clarity music even though the Z5500's have DTS96/24 clarity they would probably suffer the mid range component where edifer would win.

Logitech are known for not being the clearest of systems like the accuracy of Creative or Altec Lansing....but really....unless i was into orchestra or music with a lot of voice then i probably couldn't tell the difference.

As a multimedia thing, the Logitech wins, coming with a control pad, remote and plenty of setting to choose such as Stereo, Pro Logic Movie, Pro Logic Music, Stereo, Stereo x2 for hard to hear things like AM radio etc....

I've got the Edifier S550 and they're awesome. Can't say much about the Logitech Z5500 though because I've never heard them in person to compare.

I've gladly replaced my Logitech speakers with Edifiers.
