Hmmmm ok thanks.
I'm about 8000LY out from the bubble and getting a little bored of rocks...
Is it too late to start getting into this now?
Been waiting for squadron 42.. but you know...
Never too late. Just be prepared to set your own goals or type of gameplay you like to try, very little hand holding telling you where to go next - think Privateer.
Combat, Exploration, Trading, Bounty Hunting, Smuggling, Piracy, Mining, soon Alien Hunting...
Read beginner guides, watch developer training videos and never fly without enough for rebuy..
"Never fly what you can't afford to lose."

What happens if you do?
How does that compare with when you first start out in the game?
If you don't have enough credits for a rebuy (insurance) then your ship and any upgrades are gone for good.
After which you will respawn in the basic starter ship which is the Sidewinder.
So untill you replace or do upgrades on your starter ship it is not an issue.
You should start finding the odd undiscovered system 1000LY out, but go above or below the 0 plane by at least 500LY to get regular hits, and try to not follow the usual"highway" routes to the usual sights. Take a "banana" route.
Having said that, exploration payouts are insane compared to when I got my Elite status. I did a 270k LY trip, over 9 months out tot he far side of the galaxy and back via the "East" side. That mad me 253m cr. People seem to be making that with a quick trip to Sag A* and back nowadays...
If you want to get into some combat, I'm happy to wing up and help you out. I'll bring one of my small fighters and we can go mad. Should help you up your bank balance a bit, too. I'll teach you how to take out big ships with little ships...
I'll let you know if/ when i buy it
Finally managed to re download it.....fuck me what a shit fight, how hard can it possibly be to get a downloader to work
Have not played since just after closed beta.......what an eye opener, how easy is it to make money now
Forgot how easy it was to waste 5 hours of ya life looking at empty space, grabbing a passenger and making 1.5m for a 80ly jump was handy though
If you bought outside of steam you can login to your frontier account page you can get a steam key to add to steam instead - but you would have to download again of course.
That's how I got it to download
Amazing, the Dev's can make an awesome game.......just can't get a downloader to work, although they do now say Australia and our shitty ISPs are to blame, but Steam worked like a charm
Got to go and buy a HOTAS and learn the game again, I am noob fodder at the minute
Not wrong... I can make in a couple of hours now what used to take nearly a month.
Hotas is so good, one with analog thrusters control helps, or just get one that at least supports rudder in the stick (twist).
Be careful with HOTAS, lest you end up like me, with Warthog, Virpil Mongoos, VKB Rudder pedals, Baur F3 rudder pedals...
Well I got sick and tired of jump, x, honk, 1, space, check for decent planets, f1, jump rinse/repeat...
So I make a 4000 ly run back to the bubble today.
Now - who do I sell all this shit too ? There are 5 earth-likes in my memory bank thingy
Depends which major/minor faction you want to gain a whole bunch of rep with?
Any ship or engineer you have an eye on that may be locked behind a rank wall?
Man i haven't even used an engineer yet.....
Elite Dangerous 2.4 The Return, is out - Patch Notes:
The update to your client will be around 7 GB
Just started playing this recently with an Oculus DK2 and I thought the game was incredible. Just purchased a CV1 Rift with a 1080ti and this game is even more incredible.
I hear people complain about the grind with this game but not once have I cared about going back and forth anywhere as the VR has me totally immersed in this game.
I've just upgraded from a Sidewinder to a Cobra but I actually miss the more confined space of the Sidey and I like how it had more windowed canopy.
I wish you could sit in the cockpits in VR before buying a ship.
