I couldnt justify the prices of the Warthog or Virpil. I think ill be good
That should give you lots of buttons to bind - nice button layout.
I agree - it is a lot of cash to cough up. I bought mine after about a year and a half of playing of playing, so figured it was worth it. I also play DCS, so, long term, I'll get my moneys worth.
Recieved the X52 pro - pretty damn quick .
I think it will take the rest of my holidays to get it configured lol...
I forgot how awesome this game is with VR.
Oculus Rift, does it require a beefy graphics card for this game?
You don't require it but you'll need to turn down graphics and you might even have ASW kick in at times.
Basically the better the GPU the better the experience will be. There is no GPU limit for VR in terms of if you'll see a benefit or not.
I have an acer WMR and a 1070 and it seems to run fine.
I have a Geforce 980, and I can run the oculus on (pretty much) max settings. only a bit of stuttering every now and then.
From the DW2 player expedition:
Thx for the replies.
Old gaming rig is 2600K with 32GB ram and SSDs, last good card I had was a 980GT, but that got sold off, and now I have a AMD R270 which is ass for gaming but fine for programming and watching videos. So if I get a 1060 or 1070 + Oculus should be plenty of grunt?
Anyone here got a N52 Pro and VR? I cant seem to find settings I am happy with.
I've been having a bit of fun with the game, just playing casually in solo.
Then I naively took a mission to Hutton Orbital in Alpha Centauri...
Experienced players are probably laughing now. For noobs like me, that is a .22Ly or approximately 90 minute real time flight between stars in a single system.
There are quite a few good design decisions in this game, and a bunch of really really bad ones.
Is Autopilot still not a thing ..?
Don't forget your mug!
Morning Everyone, bit of a thread dig.
I've been out of Elite for about 6 months now, i played about a hundred hours just screwing around, but i never progressed past a Cobra. Are there any good guides or ways to get back in? I never really touched engineers, so i think i stopped when i jumped in to combat for community goals, and routinely got stomped.
This steam Beginners Guide covers a lot of what is available in 3.0+, but is nearly a year old:
Some new added mining, exploration and scanning mechanics and other content has been added since then.
As well as a whole bunch of new alien scenarios, combat, lost ruins, tech to find and unlock, etc.
Recommend you watch the official tutorial videos on what your not sure on, including the above:

38 different ships to fly in game now, with 6 types of ship launched fighters and the SRV ship launched ground vehicle to also drive if the appropriate modules are fitted to your ship.
The looting, resources, unlocking, crafting (engineering) of both human and alien tech and coming up with custom ships builds is half the fun.
This website is very handy when coming up with different ship builds and min/maxing: https://coriolis.io/
Always recommend joystick/HOTAS if you can for a much better experience, and if you have access to VR you will never go back.
edit: also there are guilds (squadrons) in game now where you can chat in game and do other stuff, so if you join a larger one there should be plenty of people in there happy to answer questions as they come up.
Made Combat Elite rank tonight, my 2nd Elite rank
What are you flying?
I'll probably pickup a new HOTAS at some point this week and get back into Elite haven't touched it seriously since just after the thargoids started showing up
For combat? a Core Dynamics Federal Corvette
