I was a bit disappointed with the thermal pad performance until i had a light bulb moment.

The 3080 sea hawk radiator was getting really quite hot and i didnt really see if as a problem as the core was still only 50degrees but saw that because of that the fans were only sitting at 40% , i ramped them up to 100% and the core dropped to 44degrees and mem temps dropped another 8 degrees :D

I set fan temp trigger when GPU hits 45 :

This is my 3080ti bat file :

    t-rex.exe -a ethash -o stratum+ssl://eth-au.flexpool.io:5555 -u %WALLET% -p x -w %RIGNAME% --lock-cclock 1410 --mclock 1300 --temperature-limit 75 --temperature-start 60 --fan t:45[85-100] --api-bind-http 0 --lhr-autotune-step-size 0.2 --lhr-tune 74.2

I was used to 3070's and 55-62 degrees was the norm and i never worried about it, so when the sea hawk was running at 45-50 degrees core it was even better, i just didnt realise that the heat soak on the radiator didnt effect the core enough to make the fans ramp up which then made the memory still run hotter then they needed too , i'm happy to run the 120mm fans at 2500rpm instead of 1500-1700 as they arent very loud and i have a shitload of spare 120mm fans if i need to replace them later on and they are a simple 4pin plug to replace each 1 which is nice not making the things some stupid proprietory plug like some manufacturers do....

A few weeks until it's announced. Goerli first.

So should I keep mining my alt-coin or switch back to eth before the merge?

Hashrate has been dropping for a month, expect it to start accelerating its decline as the great sell off begins, rewards might improve a bit in the final run. But its weeks now until D-Day is announced.

still seems crazy to have been mining at 200k gh/s - never thought it would get to 1m.

    yep.

Superphiz, just posted this, which pretty much brings everything together

    https://www.reddit.com/r/ethstaker/comments/tbql1n/five_indicators_that_the_ethereum_merge_will/

as long as 'the merge' goes alright with Kiln on wednesday or thursday when it swaps over from pow to pos we'd have to expect an announcement about the first merge of an exsiting testnet on or around the next ACD call which is 18th March. once that's annouced... its on.

Basically it means that everything is tested, and they just set the dates for Ethereum to transition to POS, so the difficulty bomb will likely be set off in June, which means mining will end within a matter of months after that, and once the difficulty bomb is set off profitability will drop considerably.

Cut a long story short, there is very little stopping Etherum mining ending around June now.

If anyone is interested in running validators or staking in a pool

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...RhmmAJ5YtgkvWKWP3OfGCZIYxSA/edit?usp=drivesdk

Justin drake just released updated projections

Eth issuance currently around 13500 per day in POW

It goes to 1640 at the merge.

The sell pressure reduction from miners is going to be insane..

There will literally be 12000 eth a day less available + an increase in people staking , currently 28,000 eth a day being added but increases to 35,000 around 28 March.

In the next couple of months there will be almost 20,000 eth per day less available

historically they went down on other coins but who knows. eth lt value and crypto in general is dubious imho. hard to sustain without hair brained marketing schemes like nft keeping people interested.

I don't think you understand the projects/businesses that are using the ETH blockchain, and i guess thats why you are a mine to sell type of person rather then holder.

no doubt i dont understand it, but i am dubious because its an actual fad now. so long term value is.... what exactly? how come people expect it to be 1000X USD when other currencies like AUD, GBP dont do that? Why shouldnt ETH be stable at around $1USD like other normal currencies? I mean 1JPY is 0.01x but its always stable ish.

BTC (and to a degree ETH) are best thought to be more of a commodity than a currency when compared to traditional markets. Scarcity is where the value comes from.
