At least its a good backup plan for something to do if we fail in life and end up in a group share house on the dole sitting on the computer all day, i should stop tempting myself

CCP have posted a dev blog giving an overview on the new skill limits for Alpha characters. https://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/clone-states-the-next-steps/

Alphas will be able to train up to battleships, will be able to crosstrain into ships from other main empires, and also will be able to pilot pirate faction ships. T2 small and medium weapons can be trained but (for the time being) only T1/meta/faction large weapons for battleships will be available. An Alpha will be able to train into any weapon system, not just the weapon systems common to their starting empire.

The blog did not mention drones at all. My personal guess is that T2 small and medium drones will be available to Alphas but only T1/faction heavy and sentry drones.

There will still be a skill point limit for Alphas so some thought will need to go into what to train for as an Alpha because you'll hit the skill point limit before you finish training for all the skills an Alpha will have access to.

Started playing again this weekend, to find we are using shield only, and I have to sell my aeon and find a Hel.

At least making isk is p easy these days, a fair few in my alliance smartbomb rat, so i'm picking up their 10/10 escalations, normally average a couple hundred mill for an hours work

T2 Drones are better if you can access the drone specialisation bonuses..which Alphas still probably wont be able to

Just a note to say that the next Eve expansion "Into the Abyss" is adding a new race/faction with some new ships, the "Triglavians". A new type of space, Abyssal space (a bit like deadspace but you need special tech to get into the new space) and some new types of Abyssal technology.

The new race currently only has three ships, a frigate, a cruiser and a battleship. They have a new weapon system which can only be used on these ships, called an Entropic Disruptor. Only one disruptor can be fitted per ship and they come in sizes appropriate to each size ships, with meta and T2 versions. Each Triglavian ship only has a single weapon slot. They do have drone bays but no drone bonuses. A quick fitting test on the test server shows that regular turrets (energy, hybrid and projectile) can be fitted to the new ships, but since each ship can only fit one turret, they really should be fitted with a disruptor.

All of the new ships have bonuses for disruptors, remote armour repping, cap warfare (neuts and nosferatus) and smart bombs.

Another new tech being added is "mutaplasmids". These are a bio-tech obtained from Abyssal space which can be brought back and used in normal space. Their purpose is to be combined with ship modules to enhance the capabilities of the modules. Once a mutaplasmid has been combined with a module, it cannot be removed, it's a one-way process. The results of combining a mutaplasmid with a module is semi-randomised. Some of the module stats can be improved, some stats can be made worse. In a worst case situation, all of the module's stats can be made worse. There are a range of different mutaplasmids, but I haven't seen definitive details on what all of them do yet. Modules that have been combined with a mutaplasmid can be used on all ships, they are not restricted to the new Triglavian ships.

The new ships and disruptor weapons are now up on the test server. The skills needed for the new ships are Precursor Frigate, Precursor Cruiser and Precursor Battleship. The skills for the disruptor weapons are Small Precursor Turret, Medium Precursor Turret and Large Precursor Turret. At the moment, Omega clone state on the test server is required to train these new skills.

I cannot see any mutaplasmids seeded on the test server market, although a market search for the term mutaplasmid shows a variety of module names, but no actual mutaplasmid combined modules available to buy.

No, Jove is still not an "active" faction. Here's a presentation from CCP with some details of the new Abyssal space, plus some commentary on how CCP hopes to spice up PVE, using the Abyssal space as a test for environmental effects which affect ship/module performance in various ways. The intention appears to be that CCP will apply these new environmental effects to other aspects of the game if they work well for Abyssal content.

I've always known releasing the jove will be EVE's end game so im guessing they never will unless subs get real low.

As for these new ships, its a good path for CCP to go with the game, mix stuff up with complete new things. Been thinking about coming back (been unsub since may 2015) back the constant bad things that made me eventually qit come back to remind me.....the AUTZ sucks..and it always will..log in, log off nothing to shoot at. There's nothing CCP can do about it and you can't blame them, its just what the reality is. So the only way to play is weekends (late night, early morning/lunch time roams) but i'm busier these days and the game always rewards players that are logged on more (which is obvious for every game) but more so being in a corp and such, most corps prefer hardcore players as casual that log in once a week are frowned upon (esp if you ina pvp corp). Logged in the other day to see how the game has changed....everything has changed...I would have to learn everything again...even the UI is completely different..another small reason to keep me away. I just havent got the time to invest in the game these days..which is a shame :(.

From what I understand, the Chinese server (Serenity) is well behind TQ for content updates, ship/module rebalancing, etc. Policing of botting is more lax than on TQ so it's more common, which then feeds into a less healthy economy than TQ. Based on player stats from http://eve-offline.net/ the Chinese server has about 1/3 of the daily average players as TQ, so TQ is a more target-rich environment for Chinese players.

Yer, shouldn't affect the game we have for a while..at least a year i reckon, but who knows after that. Watched a few vids about black desert online..the game looks great for a mmo but so many bad thing within game from to the P2W to excessive grinding, new players basically too far behind to bother with it to other broken game mechanics. Can see why few of the peeps in the videos said it has so much promise...but them greedy devs. Lets hope eve online doesn't go down the same fate...would be a shame if it died that way.

Excessive grinding is kind of synonymous with Korean MMO's. Then again, it could be worse, it could have been a North Korean MMO company. :)

I've been playing skill queue online for a few years, I haven't joined a corp yet. Should I just join one of those newbie ones or is there a local group that might be better to play with? I have been high sec mining in a retriever when I did log in.

Basically like that episode of South Park, staying in the lvl 1 forest hunting boars.
