Fancy 486 - my first retro PC

    Installing Win98SE now, yay! Components:

    • LuckyStar LS-486E rev. C. Socket 3. SIS496/497 MB with PCI and ISA
    • Matrox Mystique VGA PCI card
    • AMD 5x86-P75 (AMD-X5-133ADW) CPU
    • 10GB Quantum Fireball HDD
    • 32MB FPM RAM 72 pin
    • ESS AudioDrive ES1869F ISA sound card
    • 3COM 3COM 3C905-TX PCI ethernet card
    • Cooler Startech Socket A (www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B00006B8DB)
    • A4Tech serial mouse
    No USB, ATX to AT power connector adapter.

    Some fancy body work, I repurposed Acer ATX mini tower, pics are coming soon, need to host them somewhere

    Nothing wrong with 98 (as far as the 9x operating systems go, anyway)... I just more associate a 486 with the 3.1/95 era and to my mind Pentium class machines with 98. Just my head canon!

    This 5x86 is 133 MHz, like P75 i guess

    Note this fancy power switch! Had to solder wires inside PSU

    Win 95 was the first OS to use a "windows key", then onwards.

    Yea. I'll install Win95 on weekend, Win98 is too slow running itself on 32MB

    Youll be able to run that CPU at 160mhz if you want some extra power(40mhz Feb).

    Yep, I saw 200MHz on youtube, my exact CPU and MB btw :)
    But it really feels like it is swapping, not as slow CPU
