    FULL SET HERE (50+ pics)

My very first time shooting in a studio. First time touching actual proper studio strobes, too :p Also the first time testing out my awesome new ring-flash adaptor which I've spoken about previously... Kinda funny - expensive studio strobes alongside my $100 super-plasticky adaptor attached to my 420EX.

Anyways, let me know what you think ;) I've trimmed them down to 10 pics for this thread, but please have a look at the whole set.

    :D

w00t! Love the magazine idea! I've done a few 'fake covers' myself, but i believe you really nailed it with the 'inside articles' look :)

Her eyes look a bit funny in 9, other than that, i love the consistancy, they all have the same 'look' They don't look as super-saturated as your normal work though, i assume that was the look y ou were going for :)

    Good job.

So what did you think of working in a studio with real lighting ?

Difficult at first. Much harder to get what I want in a studio than outdoors in natural light. Although it was a dream having flashes which fire whenever I want them to fire, without having to wait, at whatever power level I want, with whatever modifiers I want :p

Wow great shots mate. Really good consistancy.

Can I ask what the fonts are that you've used in these?

The awesomest font in the world: Helvetica Neue, at various weights. Plus a bit of Linotype Gianotten :)

Your style of shooting isn't always for me, but you won me over with the magazine mockups. Green with Awesome is probably my favourite of them. Though Asbestos Dreaming made me laugh and I'm a sucker for any reference to The Grates.

The last two are really nice as well. I must admit I saw that circle behind her to the right on the last one and was about to point at you and laugh at what the ring flash did, then I saw in no.9 that it was a big G on the wall and had to point and laugh at myself lol.

Haha, thanks :D Glad someone got the Grates reference.

Shame about the graffiti on the door. I used an on-camera bare flash for the outdoor shots, but I switched it off for the door shots because the light was so nice :)

    Fantastic shots.
I love the mock magazine cover and articles.

What lighting setup do you most often use on your outdoor shots?
On camera flash? Off camera flash? Multi flash setup?

It varies... For headshots/mid-shots, I'll usually use an Omnibounce'd 420EX either on-camera or handheld with a cable. For wider shots, I'd get an assistant to hold an off-camera flash. If I'm feeling special, I might break out an umbrella, but I don't often do that outdoors :p

Oh, and I should probably mention that these photos were all shot on the 18-55mm non-IS kit lens, except for the outdoor shots which I used my 50mm for :)

Very, very nice work man. The shots behind the magazine-style spreads are my favourite.
