I noticed on gamershell they have the FEAR Perseus Mandate Demo for download as of today.

I'm not really looking foward to it, i didn't like the last expansion for FEAR, it was waste of time imo...I might check out this new demo if i have any quota left.

yeah just had a play, pretty much more of the same. Must say the graphics are starting to look pretty dated.

The landscapes when you finally get out of corridors and underground rooms looks very flat and unispiring. Dont think i will bother with this, i enjoyed f.e.a.r but not enough to back up for a third installment.

From the looks for the trailers the game looks like it's been mashed up and the same bad guys put back in... Though the new weapons look fun to use (eyes laser).

when i got my new system, FEAR was the first game I played. Compared to the stuff i was used to (on the ole AMD1800xp, gf3 system), it looked brilliant! Then I had a quick game on the weekend and I know what you mean. even with everything maxed it looks pretty pixelated, especially when compared to oblivion and even crysis BETA.

I wonder why they release a new expansion. just work on FEAR2 and make a new engine, or better yet, buy cryengine2 :p

It's no different in content wise to half life 2(not gameplay/graphics) its sort of episodic but in that its an official hard copy expansion set.

I do agree about the graphics engine though its always been very sluggish, its nice for what it does, nice shadows/darkness but its always felt slow to me even on a decent rig.

The other reason they keep pimping out expansions imo is due to the fact that for those that have finished FEAR and the first expansion will know combined they are maybe 10-12hrs max which is pretty weak.

I still like the franchise and ill still play this new expansion but after this one they do need to make fear 2 which id gurantee they are already in the process of doing.

This is the pointless expansion that has absolutely no story behind it since its just another point of view of extraction point isnt it?

    And in another word SHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTT

The game lags like bitch everytime it loads or does an auto save.
It's nice to see atleast the game runs decently now with soft shadows turned on, i remember when i got this pc and played FEAR on it i just couldn't get more than about 20fps when soft shadows were turned on.

So I finally got around to playing it, man I love fear.

Dated engine, yeah, bit sluggish yeah. Still about the only game that sorta freaks me out at all, always liked the art direction on it.

Demo is short as all the FEAR demos have been.

If you liked FEAR and played extraction point, check it out.
