    Hi,

I've got a 4x10" bass cab and I need to find out what the impedance is on it. The stickers don't help and I'm pretty noob at using a multimeter.

    Any pointers?

    Cheers

Without any gear, it should say on the backs of the speakers what they are individually, and then you need to figure out the wiring schema too.

Each speaker looks like it's 8ohm and from what I can see, it's wired like this:

Easiest way is to stick a guitar lead into the cab and measure the ohms at the other end by sticking a probe each on the tip and earth of the cable.

Cheers, I just found some info on it here too: http://www.bcae1.com/spkrmlti.htm thanks for the pointers, they helped a lot!

yeah I tried that and I think I was using the multimeter incorrectly - the numbers were all over the place and wouldn't settle on anything specific.

Thanks for the help! looks like I've got an 8ohm cab.

Ok, so you've measured the DC resistance of the assembly.

    BUT,

If you are reeeeally concerned about the load on the amplifier.
You would measure the true impedance and draw up an impedance chart for the frequency range of the driver array.
