I could barely reach Super Pi 1M @5027Mhz at 1.552v on Gigabyte EP45 Extreme with Dtek Fuzion + Thermochill HE120.3 H20. Higher vcore didn't help. But Swapping to DFI UT X48-T3RS with just Corsair Nautilus 500 H20, managed to pull off 3dmark benching @4.9+ Ghz and even Super Pi 32M at 5Ghz which was my immediate goal to begin with when i purchased a few E8600 Q820A599 cpus :)

Cpu scaled slightly better on DFI UT X48-T3RS even though water cooling setup was no where near the power Dtek Fuzion had. Bumped up vcore to 1.575v bios which came in around 1.568-1.584v idle with 0.016v-0.032v droop. This allowed to me pull off 32M @5003Mhz, 1M @5075Mhz and CPUZ Validation @5186Mhz (but cvf file didn't work so 5146Mhz screenie).

    CPUZ Validation @DDR3-2058
Probably limited a bit by FSB ceiling as well as cpu cooling

3dmark2001 didn't want to complete at 4980-5000Mhz so had to drop down to 4950Mhz with HD3850CF @823/2000

if I sent you my 4.5ghz 24/7 stable e8500 could you see how far your board would push it...pretty please :p

It boots at 4.75 but is not super pi stable.

unfortunately don't have time to test other folks gear.. IIRC my 2x E8500 Q740A493T and E8500 Q740A479T did around max 4.7-4.8Ghz for super pi 32m on water at around same voltages as E8600 above.

Congrats Eva, nice milestone that one. Now go and torture some DDR3 to celebrate!

    No worries ;)

    I really would have liked a 24/7 5ghz CPU.

Very nice eva2000, good to see someone using DFI X48 DDR3 board and E8600 working well.
Any chance of seeing 3DMark Vantage ? at those clock speeds?

AU is da top attraction .
People all over the world think we have a own nuculer power plant for us overclockers he he!

thanks.. hopefully more DDR3 action to come :D

Probably you'd need sub zero cooling for 24/7 :)

Thanks, will install vista soon as my drive is partitioned ready for quad boot OSes - winxp pro sp3, vista 32bit vista 64bit and winxp pro sp2 just have to install the vista oses :) Already prepared my 32bit and 64bit vLite OSes http://i4memory.com/f78/vista-ultimate-sp1-64bit-vlite-build-5582/ and http://i4memory.com/f78/vista-ultimate-sp1-32bit-vlite-build-9493/

don't think the competition format would suit me much, i tend to take my time to get to know the board/bios/memory before pushing things hehe

What chipset voltage are you running with that?

between 1.566v-1.665v NB volts depending on how tight i have the sub timings i.e. tWTR and writes to precharge delay

How on earth do you guys learn about the more puzzling settings in BIOS? Trial and error? Engineers lol?

Thanks eva, looks like some very informative reading

PS. Do you destroy much hardware stressing it so much?

nope in 8yrs of oc'ing only had a few parts that has failed and that was one of my E8500 Q740A493Ts (got 2 of them) which didn't boot up one day and a Gigabyte X38-DQ6 retail sample which continuous booted itself into oblivion :D

This of course doesn't included failed hdds that do so by themselves LOL.. or DOA parts that arrive faulty/dead.
